Hidden Gem | Busy Bee Studio

At HLN we like to share hidden gems that we think are worth a visit. This week it’s Busy Bees Studio, the home of all things gorgeous. The name alone is enough to get you interested, right?

Taking hidden gem to a new level…

Busy Bee Studio takes the meaning of hidden gem to a whole new level. It’s hidden in the most fabulous way. You see, Busy Bee Studio only opens its fabulous doors to what they refer to as their ‘gorgeous customers’ once a month.  Outside that month, this gem remains tucked away, deep in the woodland.

How to find them

To drive along the country road on a normal day, never would you imagine that the studio filled with interiors, vintage finds and gifts awaits. Popping to Busy Bee Studio isn’t like driving to your local store or front street, the off-road drive is an adventure in itself.  I should point out here that when you see the lovely French antique-looking sign on the side of the road suggesting you drive through a field full of cows, don’t drive past… oh no. Hop out of your car, swing that gate wide open and drive on in. Now let’s not forget to close the gate because we don’t want Daisy the cow and her friends to escape!  Drive along a farm track, past trees and open fields and yes, free-roaming cows – which we can vouch are very friendly! – you will arrive at the studio.  You’ll know you’re there as you are always greeted by the happy and helpful John who will assist you with parking.

So, why is it a gem?

The second you leave your car you’re among all things wonderful. The owner Helen’s beautiful home and her perfectly – and I mean perfectly – manicured gardens are a treat in themselves.  Helen even has a hedge cut into a crown… now that’s a hedge. You’ll walk across the gravel that makes that perfect crunch under your feet.  The question is where to look first.  The vintage finds outside always get our attention first. Everything from ladders, to garden treasure to a wooden sledge or dovecote. Beyond the exterior is a place guaranteed to make you ooh and aah.  We promise you, as you walk through the door you won’t be disappointed and you definitely won’t leave empty-handed, it’s impossible, we’ve tried.

A treasure to be found in every nook and cranny…

With everything from candles to flowers, cushions to soap and beautiful necklaces, the studio is crammed with the most beautiful and unique little pieces. It’s only small but I can assure you, you’ll walk around several times to take it all in.  What is also very special about Busy Bee Studio is that nothing is ever the same, Helen is always refreshing and reviving her stock with pieces even more desirable than before. They also celebrate the seasons in style.  Christmas, Easter and Halloween are a must if you looking for a tasteful yet unique gift, accessory or to enhance your seasonal decorations.  I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

A special note from Helen herself…..

Busy Bee Studio is the home of all things gorgeous, the home of shabby chic dreams, a haven of French style treats, and vintage bliss. My name is Helen Charlton and I trade from a small barn next to my home.  I offer a range of gorgeous handmade, recycled, and reclaimed goodies, all with a French-style twist!
