The thought of dining out in January is probably the last thing on our minds, especially with all the treat-eating we have been enjoying over the previous month. However, with clean eating being one of the most popular New Year resolutions, eating out and staying healthy has become a whole lot easier.

In the style of a deli, Nu to Go has fast become a hot spot for the North East food bloggers. WinterGreen Shakshuka, turkey burgers and Cauliflower Satay are just some of the nutritious dishes on offer both to sit in or to take away. The award-winning health café has a motto of eating healthy, feeling great and having more energy. We can’t complain about that.

No more repetitive meals

Located in both Newcastle and Sunderland, Bear and Natural Kitchen promise to get rid of the dull, repetitive meals which often break our healthy habits. Fully qualified nutritional chefs create freshly made, low-calorie foods for everyone to enjoy. Bear and Natural Kitchen also offer a meal prep service tailored to your goals.

Get Naked

Perhaps one of Newcastle’s most renowned health food takeaway and dining services comes from The Naked Deli. Clean, healthy and nutritious foods and drink are all prepared fresh upon orders. A common misconception about healthy eating is the restrictions of treats, but The Naked Deli shows us exactly how to enjoy a sweet snack without refined sugars. Pop into one of the many branches across the North East and try the delicious and flavoursome food.

Fresh and affordable

The newest addition to the region’s nutritious cafes and restaurants is the Protein Bar located on Chillingham Road. Noted as being fresh and affordable, the bar offers a range of dishes and shakes including Moroccan falafel salads, firecracker chicken wraps and protein boxes tailored to your favourite flavours. And, if your gym session has worn you out, the Protein Bar is available to order from Just Eat too!

Health in the heart of Newcastle

In the heart of Newcastle city centre hides the vegan and vegetarian Super Natural Café. Escape the stress of everyday life in this peaceful and tranquil eatery which offers freshly squeezed juices, paninis and salads. Although this choice is not as healthy as the others on this list, the vegan options provide an excellent alternative for those struggling with keeping up a healthy diet in the new year.

Right on the seafront with views across Seaham Marina, Flamingo Bar and Cafe offers a wide range of unique and delicious healthy dishes, all created by the owner and her team. Everything on the menu is clean and nutritious – our favourites include the Flamingo Cafe Signature Latte and the Taste of Morroco Open Sandwich. Dogs are welcome too and there is a special doggie menu with meals including scrambled eggs or tasty homemade treats.
