And then a hero comes along…
2020 is going to be remembered for many things, but we’re choosing to remember it as The Year Of Mariah.

HER FIRST CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE
Ok, let’s start with the most ludicrous – Mariah Carey has never had a Christmas number one. Ever. Let’s all just take a minute to let that sink in. The Queen of Christmas has NEVER topped the charts on the big day itself.
She hasn’t even had a number one in the UK with All I Want For Christmas Is You until now. Beaten to the top spot back in 1994 by East 17 (almost-worthy victors), Mariah is currently perched atop the charts like a delectably-divaish angel atop the Christmas tree. And if her legions of yuletide jumper-festooned fans continue to band together for the next couple of weeks, history will be made – Mariah will finally be able to right the 26 years of wrongs against her and the world will be set back to rights. Kind of.

OR HER FIRST CHRISTMAS NUMBER ONE?!
Unless a new challenger emerges, that is. From none other than Mariah herself. Naturally. In a magical development – the kind that only happens this time of year – Mariah has teamed up with her Christmas TV special co-stars (we’ll get onto THAT in a minute) Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson for a brand new version of her 2010 holiday banger, ‘Oh Santa!’, complete with harmonised whistle notes. Because, of course.
The new version of “Oh Santa!” is out now.

CHRISTMAS TV SPECIAL
Yes, you read that right. Released on 4th December, Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special is now on Apple TV+ and is the answer to all of our festive viewing prayers.
In the special, Santa faces a crisis of holiday cheer (classic 2020), so he calls on the only person who could possibly save the day – Mariah Carey. And her journey to single-handedly saving Christmas results in more than a few run-ins with a star-studded cast which includes Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, Misty Copeland, Jermaine Dupri and Mykal-Michelle Harris, as well as guest appearances from Mariah’s adorable twins Moroccan and Monroe.
Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special is now available to stream on Apple TV+. The full soundtrack is also available on Apple Music.

AUTOBIOGRAPHY
This year has marked the 30th anniversary of Mariah’s self-titled debut album and she’s commemorated the milestone with the yearlong celebration #MC30 – throughout which she’s shared previously-unreleased recordings, compilation album The Rarities and the instantly-bestselling, emotionally vulnerable memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.
But if you’re expecting a light, fluffy quick-read full of glitz and glam, think again. For Mariah’s is a Cinderella story that deals with racism, domestic violence and a dysfunctional first marriage. Trust us – it’ll force you to re-examine the myth of Mariah and her place in the world of music. And you’ll feel all the better for it.
Long live the Queen of Christmas!
