Winter-skin is real, guys.

With blisteringly-cold weather, increased central heating – not to mention this year’s helpful addition of face masks – you can be left with problems ranging from dry, sore skin to a dull complexion with no glow.

Just as you’d switch out your summer dresses for the colder months, it’s helpful to incorporate some skincare swaps for winter, too. Thankfully, we’ve curated an entire soothing and brightening winter routine just for you, because we’re thorough like that. But rest assured, you can also swap just a few of the items below into your regular routine to help winter-proof your skin.

CLEANSE:

Indulge skin in a deep cleanse, removing makeup effortlessly without any drying effects. The luxe muslin cloth included with Lom’s cleanser helps exfoliate and tone, while four aromatic plant oils – clove, eucalyptus, hops and Egyptian chamomile – help balance against harsh environmental conditions.

Tone:

For glowing skin at an affordable price, we love Sanctuary Spa’s skincare. This tonic utilises glycolic acid, brightening vitamin B3 and skin conditioning witch hazel to accelerate cell renewal and even skin tone, all for a more radiant complexion.

THE BIG HITTER

Super-versatile skincare and make up hybrids will be huge in 2021, trust us. Glow Recipe are way ahead of the trend. Their Niacinamide Dew Drops – inspired by Korean makeup artists’ dewy-skin tricks – can be used under or over makeup for ultra-illumination. These drops are infused with watermelon, which is jam-packed with vitamins A and C and skin-plumping amino acids.

EXFOLIATE:

Loaded with the highest-quality botanicals that gently polish and refine, this cream will help reveal brighter, smoother skin, while also delivering a major dose of hydration.

SERUM:

Consider this plumping, 2% hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum your skin’s secret weapon. It provides day-long support for a super-charged glow. 91% of users said their skin felt more hydrated after use. Impressive.

MASK:

Winter puts skin under stress: fact. To give it some spring in its step again, incorporate Faace’s Tired Faace mask into your routine once a week. Brimming with caffeine to soothe inflammation, and with moisture-retaining aloe vera, this is a real treat for the complexion. If that wasn’t enough, naturally-derived vitamin A (aka retinol) provides a boost of collagen to help keep skin springy.

FOR EXTRA-DRY SKIN:

If you suffer from eczema-prone, ultra-dry skin that flakes in winter, we’d suggest Ameliorate’s Restorative mask. Their expert formula is charged with Ceramide Therapy to enhance your skin’s natural moisture barrier – leaving you with healthier-looking skin that’s plumped with moisture.

NOURISHING OIL:

French pharmacy brands are renowned for their ability to help users achieve radiant skin. Nuxe’s Huile Prodigeuse Riche does just that – and is a godsend for anyone with incredibly dry skin. The oil protects the skin’s barrier from dehydration. It can even be used on the hair, too.

MIST:

If you like your skincare with a convenient edge, try this heavenly moisturising mist from Volition. Acting as a shield for the skin, one spritz of this super-mist will help to calm any pesky irritation, thanks to nourishing sunflower and marigold extract. Glow, girl.

MOISTURISE:

A seriously luxurious hero-product, Syrene’s Aqua Intense Cream feels like silk on the skin. It cleverly utilises L22®, an innovative ingredient designed to deliver the balanced, lipid profile seen in a healthy 20-year-old’s skin. Sound good? We thought so. This cream will work to improve skin elasticity, hydration and firmness, with natural anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to boot.

UNDER-EYE:

Sore, dry skin around the eyes can really sour the festive mood. Thankfully, Pai has launched its Kalmer eye serum – a light-touch gel formula that uses calming actives and a cooling ceramic applicator to bring instant relief to dehydrated, sensitive eyes. 88% of users said the product made their skin feel soothed and smoothed.

TREATMENT:

If you’re after a salon-worthy product to use at home, look no further than this highly concentrated Niacinamide treatment. A true all-rounder, this is a must-have ingredient for every skin tone and texture. Think of it as a superlative skin improver, upping the skin’s moisture retention whilst also tackling fine lines, hyperpigmentation and acne.

TAKE IT OFF:

This make-up remover is enriched with organic cornflower water, flax flower extract and veronica to leave the skin clean, but not stripped. Add to that a vegan-friendly and cruelty-free formula and we’re sold.

EVENING:

Every product in this must-have, science-led range contains 100% plant-derived, sustainable squaline to offer intense hydration. The night serum = healthy winter skin in a bottle.

ANTI-AGING:

For a boost of collagen, this serum is a serious big-hitter, with a clinical trial finding it reduced wrinkles by 18% and increased skin firmness by 28% in just 28 days. Add in skin-kind ingredients bakuchiol and hyaluronic acid and you’re on your way to a fresh-faced, plumped complexion.

LIP CARE:

When it comes to winter skin, don’t omit lip care. We love The Body Shop’s protective and softening vitamin E chap stick, with nourishing coconut and olive oil.

BODY CARE:

To wake up with skin that looks and feels revitalised, use Mio’s AHA body lotion, which works to resurface your skin cells as you sleep. Hello, noticeably glowier skin!
