4 of Newcastle’s newest (and coming very soon) openings
Keep your eyes peeled for when these four open their doors
The bagel is out of the bag!
One of HLN’s ultimate faves, Dot Bagels have just announced that they’re opening a new shop on Jesmond’s Acorn Road and are hoping to throw open their doors (COVID-allowing) in late March.
Having only set up their business during the first lockdown, with outposts in Heaton and in Newcastle’s Fenwick store, their latest expansion is perhaps the best testament to how beloved their little packets of bagelly goodness really are here in the North East.
We’ve already signed our x on the Dot line.

There’s a new viennoiserie on the block…
Thirteen’s the newest bakery in town (well, Heaton, to be precise) and we are beyond excited to get our mitts on their makes. If top-quality patisserie made by bakers with an indulgence for seasonal ingredients sounds right up your street, then join us why doncha?

Since starting out in December, Ponteland’s newest neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar have only been able to offer takeaway orders to their customers – but if anything, that’s only been whetting our appetites more ahead of their to-be-confirmed (physical) opening date.
Head their way at lunchtime and you’ll find charcuterie, cheese and snacks on the menu to accompany their hella-extensive wine list (we’re talking everything from the classics to the crazies here), while their evening offering revolves around a regularly changing five-course fixed dinner menu promising to always showcase the very best ingredients available, sourced locally and sustainably.

Nest is set to be Heaton’s newest (and potentially swankiest) restaurant when it opens later this year. Smack-bang on Chillingham Road, the small restaurant will offer a tasting menu from Thursday–Saturday and then will bring us a big ol’ slice of tradition (but with a modern twist, naturally) with a Sunday roast menu. In the meantime, we’ve heard rumours of a Nest At Home offering heading our way.
Keep your eyes peeled on Instagram for this one because big announcements are coming soon…
