SJT Design is a performance-wear brand started by Sarah Jane Thompson.

It was after completing two internships during her time at Northumbria University while studying Fashion Design & Marketing – one at MINK PINK in Australia, the other at Karl Lagerfeld in Amsterdam – that gave her the experience, knowledge and confidence to start her own business. Something which was compounded further by her work as a Design Assistant at H&M in Stockholm shortly after she graduated.

Now focused on designing and creating for SJT Design, which has recently been listed on ASOS Marketplace, inspiration takes form in Sarah’s experiences travelling around the world. With an ethos focused around a carefree, laidback attitude to fashion, SJT Design’s first collection, AW/19, was inspired by Salvation Mountain; garments were oversized and bright to reflect the colourfully painted surfaces created by local Californian resident Leonard Knight in his celebration of God.

That same notion of the consumers themselves being a moving art installation is explored through colour and sometimes the smallest of details. SJT hopes to help each customer search for the unexpected joy in everything, as well as inspiring them to never stop exploring and searching for the hidden pleasures and beautiful moments in life.
