Spring is officially in the air – and with daffodils and cherry blossoms blooming to peeks of all-blue skies, this month is delivering weather-wise. Quite handily, this first sight of the sun also coincides with the lifting of national lockdown, meaning we’ve been able to flaunt our first few outfits to their full potential. But what’s the ideal getup for a beer garden meet, outdoor coffee catch-up or socially-distanced park picnic, we hear you ask? Well, we’ve got the lowdown…

When planning the S/S 21 season, fashion designers had to opt for predominantly digital showcases, but still managed to deliver plenty of must-have trends and key pieces to suit everyone’s style. To bring some joy back into dressing after a year of loungewear, the catwalks were full of billowing sleeve dresses, light n’ bright colours and playful patterns.

You can nail Spring dressing in an array of colours this season, from dreamy, soft pastels and muted earth tones all the way through to bright fuchsia – as seen on the runways at Valentino, Roksanda, Molly Goddard and Isabel Marant. The H&M blazer featured below is an easy way to ode to the catwalk, at just a snip of the price.

If prints are your thing, mood-boosting styles on show included playful checks, fun florals, botanical motifs and youthful gingham. These adorned everything from accessories to stellar separates in floaty fabrics, light knits and cool linens. We’ll be nodding to this trend in Mango’s soft green jumpsuit, which is stylish yet practical and ideal for a weekend stroll.

‘Throw on and go’ midi dresses are still trending, becoming the hardworking wardrobe heroes of this Spring/Summer season. Extra points if your dress has balloon sleeves, as seen on the runways at Isabel Marant, Loewe and Givenchy. Work the trend in Sleeper’s stunning relaxed fit linen dress, featuring a smocked top and sleeves that can either be worn up or off the shoulder. This stylish buy ticks all the S/S 21 trend boxes and even comes with a matching hair ribbon, making for a ‘must-be-grammed’ outfit.

If colour isn’t your thing, don’t worry – make like Chanel, Proenza Schouler and Giambattista Valli and channel a monochrome look, which can easily be paired with colourful accessories. We love Charles & Keith’s cut out lilac sandals to spice up a black and white ‘fit. Talking of cut outs (which were a key detail on the runway this season), &other Stories has ticked off two trends in one with their floral print slash neck top. It’s the perfect pairing to go with jeans or a midi skirt to help you achieve that off-duty, chic yet casual look.

We all want to support independent and local businesses after lockdown, and must-look sites OMNES, Jules B and Never Fully Dressed are making that easy with their amazing Spring offerings. No warm-weather outfit is complete without a pair of sleek sunnies, and the below tortoiseshell style from Jules B will not only compliment every face shape, but they’ll also go with everything in your wardrobe, too.

Because indoor dining is still off-limits at the mo, we’ve found the best layering options for chillier days and nights with friends spent al fresco. Add Monki’s perfectly-peachy cardigan over your favourite dress, or Uterque’s just-dropped jacket over a top and jeans. The latter’s tan leather-on-denim detail makes this cover-up look way beyond its price point. Plus, it’ll never date, meaning you’ll get wear out of this investment buy season after season.

We don’t know about you, but all of these outdoor plans have made us excited to get dressed again. Match a cute facemask to your warmer weather ‘fit and you’re good to go…
