They’ve literally just opened a new cafe at their bakery on Holly West Avenue, with a new menu including double yolker boiled eggs with English asparagus dippers and smoked salmon soldiers, ham hock potato cake with a poached hens egg and mustard, and scrambled Clarence Court eggs with buttermilk, dill cured salmon and sourdough toast. 6. Grate Newcastle

Grate is Jesmond’s independent cheesemonger championing local and British cheeses – plus all the delicious accompaniments you could ever need!

Owner Moz has worked in cheese and food retail for most of her working life. About three years ago, she came to the conclusion that she wanted to be her own boss and, in early 2020, Grate was born. There’s nowhere else in Newcastle dedicated purely to the love of cheese, so Grate really is extra special.

And make sure you stay tuned – Moz plans to start introducing cheese-tasting, as well as a curated selection of charcuterie and wines. So in other words, heaven!
