Because the return of the office commute shouldn’t be all bad

By Abbey Warne
It seems we’ve witnessed a boom in the popularity of podcasts these last few years. The only problem with that? Choosing which ones to listen to.
Luckily for you, that’s where we come in. We’ve handpicked some of our favourite female-led podcasts that are sure to level up your listening game. So whether you fancy learning how to get ahead in the workplace or having a giggle at comedians who overshare, we’ve got you covered

iWeigh
You may recognise her as Tahani Al-Jamil from The Good Place on Netflix or from the early T4 days, but Jameela Jamil is now fast becoming best known for being a staunch advocate of positive mental health, as well as an outspoken feminist activist. So who better to inspire us through our earbuds? Hosting iWeigh, Jameela chats to influencers, performers and all kinds of other interesting characters to challenge mental health taboos.

The Guilty Feminist
If you need some proper belly-laughs in your life, look no further. In The Guilty Feminist, award-winning comedian Deborah Frances-White and her special guests discuss topics ‘all 21st century feminists agree on’, while confessing their insecurities, hypocrisies and fears that underlie their lofty principles. Best of all, it’s recorded with a live audience – so if you close your eyes, you can pretend you’re right in amongst it.

Girls in Marketing
With 10 episodes lasting from between 20 minutes to nearly an hour, the Girls in Marketing podcast will keep you entertained for at least a few commutes. This helpful podcast, designed for amateurs and marketing professionals alike, covers the latest marketing trends and offers advice on career progression, how to create your own personal brand, and loads more. Well worth a listen if starting your own business could be on the horizon.

The Girls Bathroom
Fancy a little gossip, but would rather do the listening? We’ve got the perfect podcast for you. The Girls Bathroom is hosted by YouTubers Sophia and Cinzia. Think a podcast version of all those random convos in the ladies loos on a night out, (we miss them too!). Whether trying to make sense of the boys wasting our time or the girls trying to make our lives difficult, no gossip-worthy topic is too taboo for these gals. What’s more, episodes are separated into ‘boy talk’ and ‘girl talk,’ so you can choose what you’re in the mood for.

The CEO of your life
This feel-good podcast, hosted by Theresa Hayes, is guaranteed to get you motivated and ready for another busy day at the office. Claiming to ‘assist in taking control of your life’, (which sounds good to us), The CEO of your life can help you face those daily challenges head-on – from the smaller decisions you have to make all the time, to the bigger ones that will shape your ideal life. You can thank us later.

Katherine Ryan: Telling Everybody Everything
In Canadian comedian Katherine Ryan’s life, nothing is classed as ‘too much information’. And in her podcast – which, let’s face it, does what it says on the tin – everything is out in the open for anyone and everyone to listen to. From candid chat and pettiness to phone calls and some serious stuff too, no conversational stone is left unturned.

Joyfully You
Hosted by former traveller and current life coach Kelsey Low, this podcast primarily teaches you how to be curious and trust your own intuition. She discusses how to face anything adult-related, including stepping outside your comfort zone to create new opportunities for yourself. Basically, Joyfully You aims to help you get to where you want to be. Pretty awesome, right?

My Therapist Ghosted Me
With its name based on the reportedly true story about co-host Joanne McNally’s therapist, this podcast promises a weekly chat with 100% honesty guaranteed. Joanne and fellow co-host Vogue Williams are of the opinion that friends give the best therapy sessions anyway, which is why they’ve teamed up to try and give us all a dose of exactly that every week. They give out oodles of 100% unqualified, unsubstantiated but up-front advice – just like good friends should.

Woman’s Hour
This BBC podcast aims to open up important conversations on issues affecting the modern-day woman. Episodes cover contemporary, feminism-focused topics, such as domestic violence, abortion, careers, and recent news on COVID vaccines reportedly affecting periods. They also feature chats with female celebs, such as countdown star Anne Robinson, who recently came onto the show to talk about her take on Love Island, WWII female resistance fighters and millennial relationships
