Bun Bun is the place to visit when in South Shields. Whether you’re looking for bottomless brunch, lunch or dinner, this Mediterranean menu with a twist is guaranteed to satisfy your tastebuds.

1. Instagrammable interior

From the moment you walk through the doors, we can guarantee you’ll be blown away by Bun Bun’s décor. It’s hard to miss this dining destination, with its white and neon pink sign illuminating the street outside.

From foliage on the statement mirrored staircase to stunning lights falling from the ceiling to the beautiful water feature wall as you enter, this restaurant is the ultimate backdrop to level up your Instagram pics.

2. Get the taste of the Mediterranean

With chances to jet off to the Mediterranean significantly limited this year, our friends at Bun Bun are bringing the Mediterranean to us. Fancy indulging in some gorgeous Greek cuisine? For starters, go for halloumi fries before moving on to some chicken souvlaki skewers or a shredded lamb gyro. Or why not try something new with their Greek-themed burger, Mykonos By The Sea?

If you want to satisfy those cheese and carb cravings, there are some impressive Italian dishes on the menu too. Treat yourself to a Burrata Fritto to start, followed by a Carbon-ara burger or a deep pan pizza, including Garlicky Chicken, Steak N Slice, or live the high life and go for the Lobster Lobster.

3. Cheeky cocktails

Let’s face it: we all want to be sitting on an exotic beach somewhere, sipping on our favourite ice-cold cocktails. But as that’s not looking likely right now, Bun Bun is giving us the next best thing – a healthy dose of the Mediterranean magic we’ve been sorely missing.

Nothing beats having a catch-up with the ladies with a cocktail in your hand, right?

If you’re feeling tropical, make sure you try the Mount Etna cocktail, which is a super-citrus combo of blood orange gin, limoncello and orange liqueur. Or if you want to really get your tastebuds tingling, order a Balearic Island Ice Tea – filled with citrus vodka, ginger Bacardi and spiced Bacardi. All the holiday vibes.

4. Chicken parmos with a twist

It’s not just the taste of the Med Bun Bun has on its menu; it also serves one of our region’s very own all-time favourite – the Chicken Parmesan. Yes, that’s right, you can order Teeside’s finest here. You can’t go wrong with a parmo, can you? But the restaurant has added their own unique Mediterranean twist on this classic local dish – and we’re obsessed!

Bringing an indulgent Italian taste, be sure to order the Milano with aromatic tomato and basil sauce and the Pizza Parmo, with the added special of spicy slices of pepperoni, taking the classic Chicken Parmo to the next level.

5. Bottomless brunch

As you know, here at HLN, we love nothing more than a bottomless brunch. So with this recent addition to Bun Bun’s menu, we knew we had to try it for ourselves – and we weren’t disappointed. Their menu is a cut above the rest; not only can you sip on unlimited prosecco for 90 mins, but you’ll be able to get unlimited cocktails too – dangerous, right?

From a freshly-made full English to a lighter-feeling eggs Benedict, you can eat your fill for £25 per person. And trust us, these breakfast beauties will do more than set you up for your day of fun with the girls.

6. Make a day of it

As Bun Bun is right in the heart of this seaside town, why not make a day of it? Try out Bun Bun’s brunch menu to fuel your walk along Sandhaven beach, which is just a stone’s throw away from the restaurant. Or if you’re feeling peckish after a fun afternoon at South Shields’ Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, stop off for tea here – there’s something for everyone on the menu no matter what time of day you pop by.
