It’s the most wonderful time of the year… until you realise that you need to start your Christmas shopping!

‘Tis the season of giving after all, but we have to admit that shopping for Christmas presents can be pretty stressful. Luckily, we’ve stumbled across just the place to answer our prayers – Dalton Park.

Home in the heart of County Durham, the North East’s biggest outlet shopping centre has 65 stores selling over 200 different designer brands and independent retailers, all under one roof. Perfect, right?

Whether you’re after fragrance, beauty and skincare products at Molton Brown and The Cosmetics Company Store, trendy sportswear or luxury at Next and adidas, or fancy stocking up on all the most delicious festive food for the big day at Morrisons, there’s something for everyone here. And the best part is that you can get 60% off all your favourite brands – letting you save those pennies for festive celebrations!

Oh, and some new stores have popped up in 2021, too, including: Yankee Candle and Baytree Interiors bringing a new range of Christmas gifts this year, alongside new upmarket brunch spot, Etto – perfect for refuelling mid-shop, opening in November.

So it turns out, shopping isn’t so bad. Not at Dalton Park anyway. So why not make a leisurely day of it? Take a break from your shopping by popping into any one of the cosy cafés in the mall, catch a movie at the on-site Cineworld, visit the free play park with your little shoppers or enjoy its 50 acres of surrounding, landscaped parkland in a crisp, winter walk. There’s also no need to worry about parking as it’s free and shops are open 10am – 6pm every day, so you have plenty of time for everything.

“Christmas shopping at Dalton Park gives you all the festive feels with the lights & decorations. It has the perfect choice of shops for all your gifting needs, homeware, clothes, sportswear and fragrance. It’s a bonus as the stores have great prices, so you can treat yourself too!” Dawn Hawdon, Molton Brown Store Manager, says.

But this shopping outlet is more than just about getting some retail therapy – it definitely knows how to ho-ho-host a party, too. What better way to start your Christmas celebrations off than with a bang? (Literally!) We know Christmas 2020 wasn’t up to scratch, which is why Dalton Park’s 2021 festivities are better than ever with their official Christmas lights switch-on.

On 13 November, you’ll get the chance to see Santa Claus parading on his sleigh pulled by reindeer before Metro Radio get the party in full swing with great music, fun, games and giveaways for everyone to enjoy. There’ll also be entertainment throughout the mall to get you into the Christmas spirit. All this, before local legends Steve and Karen from Metro Radio, begin the countdown to the Christmas lights ‘switch on’, followed by a spectacular firework finale in the parkland.

During the Christmas season, Santa’s Grotto will be open each weekend, where little shoppers can reel off their wish list to Santa Claus and his helpers.
