NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week 2022 is back from 17th – 23rd January. We’ve shortlisted our favourite menus from the 85 restaurants that are taking part.

 

Gino D’Acampo, Newcastle Quayside

Offer: Two courses for £15. Three courses for £20

We’ve been regulars at Gino D’Acampo’s Newcastle Quayside restaurant since it opened in 2021. We love the food and the atmosphere is great too. We’d recommend the calamari with garlic mayonnaise to start, then the capricciosa pizza which you can watch being handmade and cooked in the giant pizza oven.

Fujiyama

Offer: Eight courses for £20.

If you haven’t been to Newcastle’s first teppanyaki restaurant, this is a great time to try it. It’s dinner and a show, as the teppanyaki chefs cook your food in-front of you on giant hot plates.

Newcastle College Chef’s Academy

Offer:  Two courses £10. Three courses £15.

A night out with a difference, the Chef’s Academy at Newcastle College is worth trying if you haven’t been. The on-campus restaurant holds an AA rosette and offers a training ground for its hospitality students to hone their skills in a real-working environment. From Scottish steamed mussels to steak frites, you’ll be served a delicious meal, cooked by our regional chefs of the future.

Café 21, Fenwick

Offer: Two courses £15. Three courses £20.

Combine shopping with a delicious meal at Café 21 in Fenwick. We can’t go without ordering its famous cheddar cheese and spinach souffle to start. Leave room for dessert too, the chocolate tart can’t be missed.

Blackfriars

Another regular HLN haunt, we’ll be taking advantage of this great offer at Blackfriars. The pork belly is so delicious, and we’ll be leaving room for the sticky toffee pudding too.

Tomahawk Steakhouse (Quayside)

Offer: Three courses, £15

After just recently opening its doors of their new Quayside restaurant, Tomahawk is serving us a rather inviting offer next week.

With the option of some naughty nachos for starters, followed by 8oz rump steak (marinated Tomahawk style) with a side of fries, finished off with a chocolate fondant for pudding.

The Muddler 

Offer: Three small plates, £15

Home in the heart of Grey Street, The Muddler is serving us the tingling taste of Asia this Restaurant Week – and there’s plenty to choose from!

Whether you go for something classic like chicken katsu, vegetable spring rolls or spicy peppered quid, or something more adventurous like bulgogi pork belly, chicken/vegetable gyoza or crispy duck bao, you’ll be spoilt for choice here.

Dinner offer (5pm-9.30pm): Two courses, £15; three courses, £20

Start with lemon and herb-infused chicken skewers dipped into garlic aioli, before tucking into a king prawn linguine filled with sriracha cream, roasted peppers and fresh basil. And if you’ve got any room left, treat yourself to freshly baked cookie dough paired with vanilla ice cream. You deserve it.

Dinner offer (5.30pm-9.30pm, Wed-Thurs and 5.30pm-7pm, Fri): Two courses, £20

Pushing the boundaries of British and European cuisine, this award-winning spot is definitely on our list to visit next week.

Try curried cauliflower soup with cauliflower fritters to start, followed by roasted chicken thighs, chorizo and bean cassoulet, before sweetening things up with a chocolate mousse, cinder toffee and banana crispy crumble – delightful!

Kafeneon

With jetting off to a Greek island looking very unlikely again this year, Kafeneon brings us the taste of Greece right here in the Toon.

Start your evening off the right way with some halloumi fries, then tuck into a gyros with a choice of chicken, pork, vegan or halloumi – you can never have too much cheese – before finishing off with a Ferrero Rocher cocktail.

Pleased to Meet You

Home inside one of Newcastle’s most historic buildings, PTMY is serving us some of the finest foodie dishes next week that we know you’ll want to try.

Get things started with the chef’s native oyster shooter, before trying corn-fed chicken paired with calves’ liver, kale and honey-roasted heritage carrots. But the proof is in this pudding, right? Gin lovers, this dessert dish is one for you… the PTMY gin cheesecake paired with chocolate truffles is to die for.
