What’s special about getting married at The Biscuit Factory?

The Biscuit Factory is a truly unique venue in Newcastle. Our combination of Victorian industrial architecture and contemporary art from hundreds of independent artists and makers on display is unmatched in any other wedding venue in the city.

Your wedding day will never look the same as any other couple thanks to the ever-changing backdrop of the art gallery, and the seemingly endless inspiration that results in beautiful wedding photography.

Can couples choose which room they get married in at The Biscuit Factory?

Most couples choose to get married in our Gallery, and then celebrate in one of our two current spaces: Artisan or The Biscuit Room.

Artisan caters for up to 70 people for dining and is wonderfully atmospheric with exposed brickwork, neon artwork and an artist-commissioned mural.

The Biscuit Room hosts larger celebrations and is a more contemporary space with mid-century design touches and plenty of space for dancing the night away.

We’ll also be unveiling a new, beautiful, purpose-built space in 2022 – think Victorian winter gardens with a contemporary finish.

How many guests can you invite to a wedding at The Biscuit Factory?

We generally host weddings of around 80 daytime guests with up to 150 in the evening, but the versatility of our venue means this can be as few as 40 during the day and up to as many as 300 in the evening.

Couples have their own wedding co-ordinator at The Biscuit Factory. What help can they offer?

Our planners work with couples to ensure they get the most out of their day. From the first meeting, they’re on hand to answer any questions, recommend suitable experts from photographers to florists, and generally make sure that every aspect of your wedding dream is realised!

Our whole team is frequently recognised by couples and their guests for their calm professionalism, friendly and relaxed approach, and impeccable service standards.

Tell us about the food and hospitality offering at The Biscuit Factory.

The food at The Biscuit Factory is one of the most praised aspects of the wedding celebrations we host. Our menus are crafted seasonally by our superb chef, Adam, and always wow couples and their guests.

We work with the highest quality suppliers to ensure the freshest produce is sourced and transformed into delicious dishes. Our wine is supplied by expert wine merchants Corney & Barrow, whose heritage, knowledge and quality has seen them enjoy Royal Warrants for 100 years. Each bottle has been carefully selected by their superb team to perfectly complement our seasonal menus.

The Biscuit Factory’s renowned collection of art makes it an incredible venue for art lovers. But what about the gallery appeals to a wider demographic?

Although we’re often a choice for the art lovers out there, many of our couples discover us only when they come to plan their wedding. They always fall in love with the feel of the building first and foremost, then our relaxed but professional approach to bringing celebrations together. The versatility of the spaces also gives them confidence that their day will run beautifully.

Although The Biscuit Factory has a strong architectural style and is filled with a huge range of artwork, couples are always able to create a day that reflects their styles and personalities.

How does The Biscuit Factory lend itself to wedding photography?

The gallery provides a beautiful backdrop for wedding photography; the changing light and architectural features result in some stunningly atmospheric shots.

Being based at the edge of the Ouseburn Valley, couples often explore this popular area with their wedding photographer while their guests begin the celebrations. We’ve seen some great photography from many weddings where couples really embrace that clash of industrial heritage and contemporary street art with their beautiful dresses and smart suits.

Is there capacity for live entertainment and dancing?

We’ve previously hosted live musicians in the gallery: harpists, string quartets, saxophonists and acoustic vocalists for pre- and post-ceremony entertainment. The Biscuit Room is fully equipped for anything from a DJ to a ceilidh band with our large stage. In Artisan, most people choose a DJ or even curate their own Spotify playlist. Our planners will help couples choose the right space depending on your guest numbers and music preferences, so you’ll definitely be able to dance the night away.

Do you have any special offers on right now for couples looking to book their weddings at The Biscuit Factory?

We do! This spring we’re offering a late booking discount of 5% on weddings of more than 100 guests in 2022.

We’re not just a wedding venue, either – and the first round is on us at any engagement parties held in Artisan before 1st May, 2022.

What do you wish more couples knew about getting married at The Biscuit Factory?

The top 3 facts I wish more people knew about weddings at The Biscuit Factory are:

  1. Many couples automatically plan to marry earlier in the day, but the 4pm ceremony time really enjoys an amazing ambiance as the sun bathes that area of the gallery in the afternoon. In the autumn and winter months, the golden light is divine. (It also means you don’t have to be up at the crack of dawn for hair and makeup)!
  2. The Biscuit Room isn’t just a celebration space – if the Gallery doesn’t appeal, you can hold your whole day from ceremony to carriages in The Biscuit Room. It has its own entrance and is totally separate from the Gallery, so it’s great for those who prefer a totally private, exclusive feel.
  3. We’re not just a wedding venue! There are lots of other options at The Biscuit Factory for couples planning their wedding. Celebrate your hen or stag do with an Afternoon Tea in The Factory Kitchen (or one of our private rooms for larger groups); choose or commission beautiful handmade jewelleryfrom our contemporary collections in the Gallery; or open a Gift Account so your family and friends can contribute towards new artwork for your home together!
