Marmite Mac & Cheese

Love it or hate it – we can guarantee this tangy twist on this classic family dish will make your mouth water.

Ingredients

For Mac & Cheese

250 grams of dried pasta

2 teaspoons of marmite

75 grams of grated cheddar

75 grams of grated parmesan

30 grams of butter

30 grams of flour

250ml of milk

For the crumbs

Panko breadcrumbs

Rosemary

Olive Oil

Torres Jamón Crisps

1 clove of garlic

Method

Preheat your oven to 200 degrees.

Start with making your crumb, add a little olive oil and a crushed clove of garlic to a frying pan on medium heat. Once the garlic begins to colour remove it from the oil and add your breadcrumbs and toss through.

Once the breadcrumbs start to colour, add your rosemary and toss through, once your breadcrumbs are almost toasted, add in the crisps (crushed), mix and then set aside.

Get your pasta on, in a large pot of boiling water.

On medium heat begin to melt your butter, once melted add the marmite and combine, follow with the flour and stir or whisk well to avoid lumps.

Once combined, begin to slowly add your milk, making sure it stays a nice smooth consistency.

When you’ve got a nice smooth sauce and all your milk is added, add your grated cheese and melt into the sauce. No need to stir at this point just add it on top and let the heat melt it.

After a few minutes stir the cheese in and add a splash of pasta water

When your pasta is just slightly undercooked, add it to the sauce and remove it from the heat. Stir through for a couple of minutes.

Transfer the pasta & sauce to an ovenproof dish and top generously with the crumb. Pop in the oven for about 15 minutes or until your crumb gets a little more colour, looking for a nice golden brown.

Remove, eat and enjoy!
