Wedding days are as unique as the happy couples they celebrate – and a lot of the character, charm and charisma of your big day can come down to your choice of wedding venue.

In the same way that you’d only choose a wedding dress that flatters the unique curves of your body, or that you’d only dress your top table with the flowers, colours and decorations that make you both smile, the venue you choose to get married in can say a lot about the couple you are and the married life you’re about the embark upon.

So, it’s important to get it right. That is, right for you. And that’s where the Dream Wedding Collection from James’ Places comes in.

Offering four stunning wedding venues across the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and the Ribble Valley, the Dream Wedding Collection offers an unrivalled choice of setting for the most special of all your special days.

From an intimate ceremony in a rustic mill – uniquely restored from its former, industrial glory – to an opulent gathering in a grand manor house, complete with period features and decadent architecture, James’ Places have a wedding venue to suit every couple. Wedding venues which exude personality and provenance, which demand the awe of your guests, and which promise to provide the most unashamedly romantic backdrops to memories that will last a lifetime.

Finding the right wedding venue can come down to something as simple as the way you feel when you walk through the doors. Now, while we can’t take you on a whistle-stop tour of the North right now, what we can do is provide you with everything you need to know about these dreamy wedding destinations.

So, step inside – because sweet wedding dreams are made of these four fabulous wedding venues…

Eaves Hall, Clitheroe

120 day guests; up to 250 evening guests

30 bedrooms

If it’s an intimate ceremony against a stunning backdrop that you’re after for your big day, then having exclusive run of this gorgeous, Georgian-style country house in the heart of Lancashire’s Ribble Valley will come pretty close to a dream come true.

Set within 13 acres of award-winning, superbly kept gardens, Eaves Hall really is picture-perfect in every sense of the word. Fully licensed for civil ceremonies both inside and out, you have the choice of four lavish locations:

  • The Ballroom, which holds up to 60 guests
  • The Pendle Room for up to 120 guests
  • The beautiful new Wedding Pavilion outside, set on beautifully manicured lawns, for up to 120 guests
  • The outdoor Veranda to the front of the building, also for up to 120 guests

And while you have your pick of the four wedding spaces here, at Eaves Hall the word ‘exclusive’ means just that; it’s your wedding day, your way – your family, your friends and no-one else. The house, gardens and grounds are all yours and yours alone to enjoy, so you’re sure to create memories that are special enough to last forever.

Best of all, this exclusivity includes your accommodation, too – with 30 magnificently decorated bedrooms available for you and your guests, both in the Hall itself and in the adjoining mini mansion that is the Lodge.

Do you want to tie the knot overlooking the sensational Ribble Valley landscape? Fancy getting married inside the Ballroom, but with a lavish cocktail reception outdoors? Whatever visions you have for the day, consider it done at Eaves Hall – the venue is yours to use as you choose.

Mitton Hall, Clitheroe

180 day guests; up to 350 evening guests

18 bedrooms

On the banks of the river that gives its name to the Ribble Valley, majestically restored and recreated as the ultimate wedding venue, lies Mitton Hall.

Unashamedly romantic, the ancient architecture here is enhanced by its contemporary interior design, which is nothing short of inspired. Thoughtful touches are hidden in plain sight around every corner for your guests to enjoy, while your photographer won’t struggle at all to find the perfect backdrop.

At Mitton Hall, your ceremony – be it religious or civil – will take place in the fabulous Party Room. Through the day, the space is bathed in natural light and offers stunning riverside views to your 180 daytime guests, while with evening comes its incredible transformation into the perfect party space, able to hold up to 350 guests.

Alongside its own private bar area, the Party Room also opens out onto the garden terrace, which offers a sweet, sentimental and secluded spot for a drinks reception with a difference.

Does your army of wedding guests march on their stomachs? Relax – Mitton Hall only employ the best and brightest chefs who use the freshest local produce to create an impeccable wedding breakfast you won’t forget about in a hurry.

And speaking of unforgettable, book one of the meticulously designed rooms at Mitton Hall and enjoy accommodation as unique as the venue itself; from the grandeur of the four-poster bed in the King Suite to the contemporary chic of the Mitton Suite, or the rustic charm of the gamekeeper’s lodge-inspired Tudor Suite, every room here is uniquely decorated and brimming with character.

Holmes Mill, Clitheroe

150 day guests; up to 200 evening guests

39 bedrooms

This former 19th century cotton mill has been rescued from decay and transformed into one of the most unique wedding venues in the North. Having kept as many original features as possible, this venue wears its bumps and bruises with pride – and is all the more beautiful for it.

At Holmes Mill, you’ll say your vows in The Cotton Room, which is fully licensed for any ceremony and perfectly captures the romance and nostalgia of the silver screen’s most classic love stories with reclaimed cinema seating. After you’ve said your “I do’s”, The Cotton Room can be transformed into a stunning reception space where you and your guests can celebrate. Alternatively, you can choose the 1823 Spinning Block Bistro and Hotel for a luxurious wedding breakfast in a setting that celebrates both Lancashire’s rich industrial heritage and its fine culinary traditions.

Speaking of the adjoining hotel – which is also, incidentally, the oldest building within the Holmes Mill site – in the 1823 Spinning Block you’ll find 39 beautifully designed bedrooms where you, your family and friends can all relax before, during and after your big day celebrations.

Holmes Mill is brimming with fascinating architectural details nodding to the building’s industrial past, which will lend a unique character and ambience to your wedding here. And you already know what incredible architecture means – ample photo opportunities! Your wedding photographer is sure to capture your memories in a series of sensational shots that promise to be as unforgettable as the day itself, without even needing to worry about the weather. Beauty, personality and versatility? Now, that’s dreamy…

Falcon Manor, Settle

87 day guests; up to 150 evening guests

16 bedrooms

Nestled within private grounds on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales in the historical market town of Settle, the magnificent Falcon Manor offers an impressive yet intimate wedding venue.

Rescued from neglect back in 2015, Falcon Manor has been sympathetically restored, redecorated and relaunched as the most romantic wedding venue in the Yorkshire Dales. Strong and determined on the outside, yet beautiful, soft, warm and elegant on the inside, the architecture, gardens and rolling landscape of this rural venue all combine to breath-taking effect on your wedding day, with no shortage of fantastic photo opportunities to capture memories that will last a lifetime.

Fully licensed for civil ceremonies, Falcon Manor is able to accommodate more than 80 guests in the beautiful Garden Room, where they’ll be welcomed into gorgeous interiors filled with daylight and opening out onto the terraces and gardens beyond. Unashamedly romantic, there’s something so poignant and dramatic about saying your vows against the backdrop of the majestic Yorkshire Dales. And as day becomes night, the dramatic beauty of Falcon Manor only intensifies as it gradually takes on the ambience of a fairy tale castle, strong and secure against the wilds of the Dales. Put it this way – Heathcliff would have loved it!

With 16 boutique bedrooms, each offering comfort, chic décor and astounding views in abundance and all exclusively for your wedding party, there’s no reason this chapter of your love story needs to finish at the end of the night, either.
