We’re all looking for that oasis of zen to escape into after a long day at work.
A space where we can chill, feel comfortable and which looks oh-so-chic. And we’ve found just the interior trend guaranteed to give those ultimate elegant and calming vibes: Chinoiserie Chic.
Think nature, birds and calming colour schemes. This trend really does bring a sense of peace to any space and is the perfect styling option for spring – we can’t get enough of it. But how can we bring this trend into our homes? Introducing… Studio Vita.
Founding mother and daughter duo, Andrea and Abigail, are qualified interior designers, both holding First Class Honours Degrees, and, in 2019, their designs were shortlisted for the National Design Award. That’s not forgetting how they’ve showcased their new luxury interiors accessories range at the Surface Design Show in London. Impressive, right?
But at the heart of their business is their passion for creating beautiful, stylish and functional spaces tailored to our individual tastes and needs. That’s why we caught up with Andrea and Abigail to try and tempt them into divulging their secrets on how we can get that calming Chinoiserie Chic style in our own homes, too…

What do you love about Chinoiserie Chic?
[Andrea] We love the delicate and elegant appearance of Chinoiserie and the way it features nature, birds and calming colour schemes. It brings a sense of peace to any space. This is a timeless trend that will always bring a touch of elegance and class to any room. It will always be a feature and a talking point.
How can we get the Chinoiserie Chic look?
[Abigail] You can have a little or a lot. A beautiful velvet chinoiserie style cushion or lampshade might be all that’s needed to give your neutral room an interesting and colourful feature. Or, you can go all out and have a framed mural for a really dramatic look. Artwork is also a great way of introducing this style into your space, especially using frames in colours that coordinate with your current accessories.
We think it’s a style that’ll work with most colour schemes, but it works particularly well with beautiful deep teals, greens and blues. It’s incredibly striking, teamed with dark furnishings and gold accessories. We would generally pair it with a more traditional or vintage aesthetic, but it can also be given a modern glamourous twist.

Tell us everything about your new collection.
[Andrea] We’ve recently branched out into textiles, something we’ve always had a passion for. We’re designing our own high-quality bespoke cushions, lampshades, wall coverings and art prints designed to bring a touch of luxury into any home. Our products can be customised to ensure the colours and style fit perfectly in our clients’ spaces.
Where did the inspiration come to design your pieces?
[Andrea] We wanted to create accessories that would perfectly complement individual styles and décor. For example, the Plummy Bluebirds design has a background in the exact shade of a client’s panelling in their home and the plum brings out the lilac shade of the other walls in the room. We can perfectly change all our designs to complement your home or office.
What are your top tips for getting that show home look?
[Abigail] We always think less is more. We love accessories, but a few striking pieces are better than lots of clutter. Don’t choose too many colours or patterns, as this can become overpowering. Choosing a feature colour or a wall with a contrasting shade for furniture keeps it simple but effective. We always advise sticking to one style, as this makes it easier to find pieces that work in your space.
