Now making its home in the original Spinning Block at Holmes Mill, dining destinations don’t come much more unforgettable than Bistro, Bar & Grill.

Because, when it comes to the food in this modern British restaurant, the philosophy here is really quite straightforward: they take only the finest ingredients, treat them with care and respect, and deliver truly sumptuous dishes time after time (after time).

All things considered, it’s really quite obvious why Bistro, Bar & Grill is now regarded as one of the best places to eat in Clitheroe.

But don’t just take our word for it. Allow us to take you through each and every step of what dining at Bistro, Bar & Grill is really like…

THE FOOD

Ok, let’s start with Bistro, Bar & Grill’s magnum opus: its scran.

Because you’re not in for just your average bistro bites in this neck of the woods. Oh, no. With the Bowland Food Hall for a larder, this Bistro, Bar & Grill has access to the best and the freshest ingredients to be found in the North West.

Take their meat, for example, which is sourced from Bowland and Lancashire. Or their seafood, which comes fresh of the ships at Fleetwood, Lancaster and the markets at Manchester. And their fruit and vegetables (forever seasonal) are sourced directly from the farms of the flat lands of West Lancashire.

You can almost imagine all those fresh flavours exploding on your tongue as you tuck into your small plates, bistro classic or desserts, right? And speaking of tucking in, the HLN team have picked out some of our favourite dishes at Bistro, Bar & Grill to tickle your tastebuds…

For the indecisive… The nibbles and small plates

We love our scran, but we often struggle narrowing down exactly what it is we want to commit to for any given meal! Which is why we love the options of succulent small plates and nibbles here at Bistro, Bar & Grill. Our go-to? Spiced rum and treacle glazed chipolatas; beer battered salt pickles with cheddar mayo; and Bowland No.1 Gin, lime and coriander gravadlax. Divine.

For the sophisticated…. Fillet of beef (8oz)

It would be somewhat sinful to come to Bistro, Bar & Grill and not try one of their grilled delicacies. And while there are plenty of decadent dishes on the menu – we’re looking at you, lobster – our pick of the bunch is the fillet of beef. Succulent, prime cut and grass fed, this steak is served with rustic chips, blistered tomato, portobello mushrooms and rocket slaw. So, you can indulge your inner connoisseur while satisfying all your culinary cravings.

For the sweet tooth… Coconut panna cotta

Picture the scene: you take your dessert spoon and carve your way through freshly sweetened coconut cream to plunge it into a panna cotta glass packed with crisp honeycomb and fresh, juicy prunes soaked in rum; fresh botanicals bringing out flavours that promise to tantalise every tastebud in your first bite… This is edible exotic escapism at its finest.

THE DRINKS

Now, onto your aperitifs, digestifs, and every sumptuous sip in between. After all, our choice of drinks can often make or break our dining experiences, can’t they?

Not that we have any concerns that will happen at Bistro, Bar & Grill. With one of the most superbly well-stocked bars we’ve ever seen taking centre-stage right in the heart of the restaurant, it’s clear the team here take as much pride in their drinks offering as they do in their dining – which is to say, a lot.

In terms of the serves in question, style really is the name of the game here. Whether it’s a relaxed morning coffee, a one-of-a-kind cocktail you won’t find in your city-centre bars, or a nightcap before heading up to your hotel room, the bevs here are guaranteed to please in your palm as much as on your palette.

Stuck on what to order? Let us share our top serves…

The cocktail… Parma Sutra

Cocktails with the girls is always an event. And by now, we feel we’ve sampled all the pornstar martinis, cosmos and margaritas the North has to offer. But what we haven’t tried before is this cheeky little concoction. Black Powder raspberry gin and violet liqueur combine to create this sweet shop sensation, along with prosecco foam topped with a mixed berry crumb. Sexily sweet.

The wine… Passing Giant Pinot Noir, New Zealand

We always celebrate real indulgence with a good quality red – and the grapes of New Zealand never fail to hit the spot. There’s a lot to enjoy in the Passing Giant Pinot Noir, too: from the darkly exotic allspice nose to the refreshing plum and cherry-chocolate generosity of the palate.

The beer… anything from Bowland Brewery

The Ales of Outstanding Natural Beauty brewed just beneath the chimney of Holmes Mill really are a taste experience to… well, experience. Crafted by a dedicated team of artisan brewers, dive into any and every of this collection of cask beers – inspired by the beautiful landscape of Bowland – and you won’t be disappointed. Oh alright, if you’re going to press us, we’d always start with a cheeky Boxer Blonde (4%).

THE VIBE

Sure, Bistro, Bar & Grill is sophisticated. It’s stylish and sumptuous, with simply stunning surrounds.

But it also has a relaxed ambience that reflects the friendliness and efficiency of it dedicated front of house team. Visit Bistro, Bar & Grill any time of day and you’ll be met with a warm welcome, be guided by expert advice and taken care of with an exceptional eye for detail.

What’s more, Bistro, Bar & Grill has capacity – and the team a willingness – to accommodate any and every size of party. So, whether you fancy a quiet date-night dinner, a boozy brunch with the girls, or a full-on family gathering (with all in-laws included), they’ll find a table for you here, taking all the stress out of the decision making for you. Which, after all, is what a staycation is all about, isn’t it?
