When planning a special celebration, we always want to book somewhere not only luxurious but also where we can create memories that’ll last a lifetime. But it’s not always as easy as it sounds, right?
After hours of scouring the internet, it can be so hard to find a classy destination for big group gatherings like stag and hen parties, alongside finding a big enough space to entertain everyone, too. There’s nothing worse than having to leave some of your nearest and dearest out of your celebrations.
But listen up, ladies: we’ve found the most sensational secret spot that has all the answers to our prayers – hosting up to 20 guests at any one time. Blackton Grange is the secluded lakeside ‘celebration destination’ in the heart of the North Pennines, between the picturesque towns of Middleton-in-Teesdale and Barnard Castle, that you need to know about.
Just an hour’s drive from Newcastle and Durham, this relaxing retreat is an elegant escape away from the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, where we can unwind while taking in the views of outstanding natural beauty that make up the captivating Country Durham countryside. Sounds like just what we all need right now, doesn’t it?
While Blackton Grange hasn’t quite opened its doors just yet (much to our disappointment), we don’t have long to wait before we can enjoy a sensational staycation – as this high-end holiday home will be open for bookings later this year.
Can’t wait that long? Here’s what we know about Blackton Grange so far…

From a movie night in their cinema room to fun in the games room, a cheeky tipple (or two) in the cocktail lounge to a secluded soak in their spa area hot tubs (and cold tubs) and relaxing by the fire pits, Blackton Grange has everything to entertain everyone – including your four-legged friends, as dogs are most welcome at this estate.

THINGS TO DO WHILE STAYING IN COUNTY DURHAM
A breakaway should be relaxing, leaving you without a care in the world during your stay. And from private chefs to ultimate spa day experiences, kayak lessons to grazing tables and cocktail masterclasses to Pilates sessions, owners Jodi McSherry and Stella Laird have searched high and low to find the best, local businesses to make your stay even more special, so you don’t have to worry about any of the ‘extras’.

This sensational staycation spot is perfectly secluded. But, if you want to explore beyond the gorgeous 11-acres of the Blackton Grange Estate’s grounds, it’s also only a 15-minute drive to the historical market town of Barnard Castle. Here you’ll find many thriving independent retailers, restaurants, cafés and pubs that serve top quality homemade food, with local produce at the forefront of their menus.
Whether you want to blow some cobwebs away or take in the views of the captivating County Durham countryside, Blackton Grange has direct access to the famous Pennine Way walking and cycling route and is close to some great sites, such as High Force Waterfall, Richmond and Grassholme Observatory.
