If it’s a heavenly staycation spot you’re after this summer, this exceptional former rectory is the answer to your prayers.

Renovated to a luxurious, five-star standard, with its original charm and character flowing throughout, this sensational holiday home boasts five bedrooms (one king-sized bedroom accessible on the ground floor), four bathrooms and extensive gardens which even include a hard tennis court – so you’ll love the stylish, summertime vibes The Old Rectory serves up.

Measuring at over 3,000 square feet, The Old Rectory isn’t short of space. You’ll find three separate living areas to choose from, each benefitting from premium furnishings, luxurious velvet sofas, a flatscreen TV and beautiful finishes. If all that kicking back and relaxing has helped you work up an appetite, then simply make your way to their shaker-style kitchen, which is fully equipped for self-catering stays and has everything you could ever need to cook up a storm. Better yet, the spacious, open-plan dining area provides a real social hub ideal for entertaining, with a large table capable of seating up to 10 guests.

Fancy dining al fresco? Your wish is Host & Stay’s command. Especially here at The Old Rectory, where the beautiful, extensive garden space benefits from outdoor furniture which makes it the perfect spot for a coffee in the morning sunshine, dinner as the sun sets or an evening tipple under the stars.

At The Old Rectory, your party can spread themselves across five bedrooms, with one king-sized bedroom and shower room accessible on the ground floor. The other four are located on the first floor and include two kings, a twin room, one ensuite king and one ensuite double.

Stay near Durham – named ‘One of the Best Cities to Visit in 2020’ – and you’ll enjoy the best mix of everything life in this city has to offer. It retains its medieval heritage while blending seamlessly with a modern, vibrant nightlife; its lush, green landscapes surround busy cobbled streets bustling with city-dwellers perusing the wealth of independent boutiques, bars, pubs and restaurants.

Of course, it would be remiss of us to talk about Durham and not mention its spectacular Cathedral, which is well worth a visit no matter how many times you’ve been before. Constructed between 1133 and 1903, this towering feat of Norman architecture is now the oldest surviving building in the UK with a stone vaulted ceiling at such a large scale and has a wealth of fascinating history to explore within its walls.

Whatever you’re looking from in a staycation – whether you plan to take in the sights and sensations of the varied landscape around you, or you’d prefer just chilling with your loved ones in a luxurious holiday home where every comfort is at your fingertips – when it comes to places to stay in Durham, The Old Rectory proves heaven really is a place on earth.

But the undoubted pièce de resistance of Deveraux House can be found on its rooftop, where your very own bar provides the centrepiece of a spacious living area. Open up the bi-fold doors and step out onto the large balcony and you can enjoy panoramic views over Whitby and its triumphant Abbey, most famous for being the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel, Dracula. With plenty seating and a spacious terrace, Deveraux House’s rooftop bar is the best spot in town in which to kick back and relax, enjoy a drink or two and soak up the sunset.

The centre of Whitby is awash with cosy cafés, restaurants, pubs, arcades and boutiques lining its medieval streets, as well as the Abbey and the famous 199 steps leading up to the clifftop St Mary’s Church.

Expertly designed and situated within gorgeously private gardens, this exceptional holiday home is perfect for family getaways or celebratory weekends away with your loved ones.

Located close to the charming village of Great Ayton – where you can enjoy plenty of meals and drinks in the local pubs – Otterhill offers an unforgettable stay in North Yorkshire with enviable views of the surrounding countryside from its unique vantage point at the foot of the Cleveland hills. An ideal base for any keen walkers or cyclists, you’ll enjoy excellent access to all many of country routes and neighbouring towns here. And with private parking for up to six cars on the property, getting wherever you need to go will always be a breeze.

Roseberry Topping is perhaps the most popular rural haunt here, which is only a 10-minute drive away from Otterhill. The walk up to its peak is an enjoyable one, accessible to walkers of varying abilities, and the views from the top are breath-taking on a clear day. We’d also recommend visiting the neighbouring market town of Stokesley, only a few miles from the property, where you’ll find a wealth of local shops, restaurants, cafés and awe-inspiring countryside to keep you busy.

Not that you’ll want to leave Otterhill behind in a hurry. This holiday home is luxury incarnate, with every room inside having been carefully designed and furnished to the highest standards.

Step inside Otterhill and you’ll be welcomed into a bright, spacious hallway complete with a spiral staircase winding its way up to the first floor. The ground floor consists of a study, six bedrooms (four of which are ensuite), and one large family bathroom, making Otterhill an ideal destination for group gathering where accessibility is key.

With floor-to-ceiling windows, each room is flooded with light during the daytime – allowing you to enjoy the views across the well-manicured gardens, private decking area and out over the rolling countryside beyond – while roller blinds ensure you have plenty of privacy once the sun sets.

The master bedroom is located upstairs, along with a private bathroom, a large kitchen-dining area, two living spaces and three outdoor terraces. The modern kitchen is sleek and stylish, with bespoke cabinetry, grey-toned Italian stone floor, moulded concrete worktops and an island, which will inspire you to try all manner of exotic new recipes in such stylish, industrial surrounds.

A large oak dining table, with matching benches and additional leather chairs, means mealtimes can be as social and entertaining as you want them to be, while large sliding doors lead out onto a balcony with more relaxed seating. After dinner, retire to one of the two living areas, both of which include a selection of luxurious sofas and occasional seating. An open flume fireplace and log store provide cosy features, while the glass-top, stone-base coffee table is a real centrepiece. And with five TVs spread out across the property, each featuring Sky, Freeview and Netflix, consider your evening entertainment sorted.

If it’s a luxurious North Yorkshire stay bursting with charm, character and comfort that you’re after to make memories with your loved ones this summer, Otterhill is the rural retreat for you.
