SCREAM FOR PIZZA

Another authentic Neapolitan pizzeria but this time with a twist.

The owners, Alex and Vicky, got their pizzaiolos training in Naples at the famous La Notizia pizzeria, so they put their heart and soul into creating epic flavours with surprising fusions from the world’s most favourite dishes.

One of the newest additions to Chillingham Road is the walk-in-only Flint Pizza. Wood-fire ovens, with an open kitchen-style bar, creates a lively atmosphere straight from the chefs.

Owner Ben had a ‘eureka moment’ while holidaying in Budapest and wanted to recreate a little pizza shop serving Neapolitan pizza. The small and intimate restaurant is a romantic spot to enjoy unique flavoured pizzas made in the imported authentic pizza oven.

A family-run, small pizzeria situated in the heart of Middlesbrough is another hot spot for pizza-lovers across the region.

Sourdough-based authentic wood-fired pizzas take only 90 seconds to create that much-loved cheesy goodness.

The dough is fermented for 72 hours to ensure maximum gluten chain breakdown and increase protein content.

The best pizza that Darlington has to offer, in our humble opinion.

This restaurant is award-winning with the title of 2018’s English Italian Awards for ‘Best Pizzeria’.

Stable Hearth first opened in 2013, and all of its pizzas get cooked in a third-generation family business oven purchased from Italy.

ELDER AND WOLF

Although this restaurant isn’t technically a pizzeria, it is nevertheless worthy of being on our best pizza spots list.

The chefs at Elder and Wolf source all ingredients locally, and make their dishes fresh every day before cooking them in the fire.

This cosy coastal spot won the award for the North East’s most relaxed restaurant, so another reason to head straight there.

GINGERINO’S PIZZA

Gingerino’s Kitchen, Stepney Road, NE2 1TZ

This casual dining spot in Ouseburn, Gingerino’s makes crispy stonebaked pizzas made with the highest quality ingredients such as San Marzano D.O.P tomatoes, 00 pizza flour and Fiore di latte cheese.

Each pizza is 14 inch, sold as quarter slices and are available on a great lunchtime deal with a drink and a cake (hello, Friday treat).

It also sells garlic bread and mini calzones which are delicious. Prices from £2.50 a slice.
