Think cosy nights snuggled up beside a log burner, warm hot chocolates after a refreshing country walk and sipping on a glass of wine whilst watching the sunset.

There’s nothing like a getaway to Northumberland to help you escape from all the stresses in your life.

From the crisp fresh air to the stunning seasonal changes and a range of wonderful walks to choose from – there really isn’t a more romantic time to visit Northumberland than in autumn, right?

With so many staycation spots out there, it’s hard to find the perfect place for you to stay. But if you’re after a memorable getaway with a unique twist then look no further than The Hiddle Hut.

Home in the heart of Northumberland with breathtaking countryside views and under the darkest of skies, a stay at this two-storey luxury cosy cabin will be an experience you’ve never had before.

From the star-gazing roof window over the king-sized bed to an outdoor fire pit and grill to toast marshmallows on and a roll-top bath for a relaxing soak whilst you take in the rural views, The Hiddle Hut feels like a home away from home complete with modern amenities making your holiday that extra bit special

When booking a staycation, it’s all about the location. Located on the outskirts of Bardon Mill, Hexham, The Hiddle Hut is just a stone’s throw away from the most iconic and picturesque stretches of Hadrian’s Wall, a stargazing experience in Northumberland Park’s protected dark skies and the nation’s favourite and most photographed tree – Sycamore Gap.

With the Coast-to-Coast cycle path and fabulous walking trails straight from the Hut, there’s plenty right on the doorstep to explore.

INSIDE THE HIDDLE HUT

The two-storey cabin is the perfect warm hideaway from the cold outside complete with central heating and is extremely well insulated with sheep’s wool. Built using reclaimed materials and with repurposed auction gems at every turn, as soon as you walk through the door, you’ll feel cosy and have a taste of luxury throughout your stay.

The snug

After a long refreshing walk, kick back and cosy up on the leather two-seater sofa and footstool beside the burning wood burner whilst watching films on the smart T.V.

The kitchen

Autumn is all about comfort food, right? The Hiddle Hut has all amenities needed to whip up your finest dishes thanks to the Smeg fridge freezer, Bosch dishwasher, Gas oven and hob as well as granite worktops, coffee machine and Dualit appliances.

You really can’t beat the feeling of sitting at the oak breakfast bar tucking into a full English breakfast watching the sunrise and listening to your favourite tunes on Roberts radio/Bluetooth speaker.

The bedroom

This is one of our favourite rooms in The Hiddle Hut and it’s not hard to see why. After climbing the reclaimed spiral staircase you’ll reach the second-floor bedroom mezzanine with a star-gazing roof window over the king-sized hand-built bed. You can’t get any more romantic than taking in the pristine dark skies here in Northumberland with a wonderful star-gazing experience cuddled up in bed, right?

HLN TOP TIP: Please be aware that The Hiddle Hut is not fully accessible and therefore not suitable for people with mobility issues.

The bathroom

The Hiddle Hut really is a gift that keeps on giving with the ensuite bathroom complete with a double-ended roll-top bath of dreams where you can soak whilst taking in the stunning views of the rural landscape and a monsoon shower.

We have to mention the bathroom vanity which was an old Victorian washstand from a Manor house in North Yorkshire that has now been restored and holds a statement basin and waterfall tap.

The personal touches

Owner Catherine really goes above and beyond for her guests. On your arrival expect to find a welcome hamper to help you settle in with your stay. From home-baked treats to eggs from her free-range hens and essentials like butter, milk and coffees, tea and pods for the coffee machine, Catherine has got you covered.

Or, if you’re after something more specific for your stay without the hassle of having to nip to a shop Catherine offers four different kinds of breakfast hampers as well as different grazing boards at an additional cost.
