Darlington Restaurant Week 2023 kicks off tomorrow and runs until Sunday 26th February.

Some of the best restaurants in Darlington – as well as bars, cafés and pubs – will be offering great deals throughout the week, from half-price mains to special set menus.

Here, we shortlist the Darlington restaurants we’ll be visiting…

Southend Avenue, Darlington DL3 7HT

Offer: 3 courses for £20

The majestic Georgian townhouse that Bannatyne Hotel Darlington calls home forever exudes grandeur and class – making its in-house restaurant, Maxine’s, a firm favourite for celebratory meals and special occasions.

Even better, then, that you can get everything from slow-roasted beef brisket to a posh Parmo for under £20 this week.

1 Strait Lane, Hurworth, Darlington DL2 2AH

Offer: 3 courses for £20

Just outside the city in Hurworth, family-run bar and restaurant The Otter and Fish has built a strong following thanks to the quality of its homemade comfort food and the warmth of its welcome.

Tuck into one of their epic burgers and look out over the River Tees for a restaurant week treat.

Unit 6 Feethams, Darlington DL1 5RD

Offer: 3 courses for £20

Specialist steak restaurant and cocktail bar Tomahawk’s reputation now precedes it as one of the restaurants Darlington is most proud of. Here, you can expect melt-in-your-mouth meat, with their Himalayan salt dry-aged steak topping the bill.

But the sides arguably steal the show here, too – think everything from parmesan truffle fries to glazed mac ‘n’ cheese, garlic butter prawns and bacon and cream peas.

26 Duke Street, Darlington DL3 7AQ

Offer: 2 slices of pizza & fries £10; 2 slices of pizza, a side & fries £15; 18” pizza and a dip £19.50; 18” pizza and any side £25

Hip pizza joint Hideaway’s giant, New York-style pizzas have become the stuff of legend in these parts, and it’s easy to see why.

Aside from their sheer size, the variety of their menu is sublime – from Texas Cheesesaw Massacre to Hot Diggitys, they’ve got you covered. There are different deals to suit everyone this Darlington Restaurant Week, too.

9 Kendrew Street, Darlington DL3 6JR

Onion bhajis, vegetable pakora, chicken tikka, mixed kebab, samosas, peshwari naan bread… Nothing says night on the town than a trip to an Indian restaurant. And Viraj is one of the restaurants Darlington locals love.

Enjoy South Asian cuisine packed with panache, without forking out a fortune.

81 Skinnergate, Darlington DL3 7LX

Offer: 2 courses for £16.95; 3 courses for £19.95

The oldest Italian restaurant in Darlington is also one of the town’s most loved. We guess that’s what happens when top quality comfort food combines with a family-friendly atmosphere and affordable menus.

And those menus have been made even more affordable this week. So, enjoy it! After all, there’s no occasion that doesn’t suit a cheeky trip to an Italian’s.

11 Houndgate, Darlington DL1 5RF

Offer: 3 courses for £20

We’re self-proclaimed suckers for seafood, so when we heard seafood and wine bar Saltfish was taking part in Darlington Restaurant Week 2023, we knew we were onto a winner.

Whether you’re snacking on freshly shucked oysters at the bar with one of their artisan wines, or you’re tucking into one of their fresh fish specials, you’re sure to enjoy a taste of class at one of the swankiest restaurants in Darlington.

28 Duke Street, Darlington DL3 7AQ

Offer: 2 courses for £15.95; 3 courses for £19.95

Tapas is just a guaranteed crowd pleaser, right? Essentially a posh “picky tea”, everyone can enjoy a little of what they fancy – making eateries like Sol Tapas ideal for a group get together.

Especially because the authentic Spanish food at Sol Tapas is ever changing, meaning you’ll always be tempted to try something new. When it comes to Darlington restaurants, this one should always be on your “to visit” list.
