2023 fashion trends are all about less is more.
We’ve seen a utilitarian turn with cargo trousers, denim and wearable silhouettes all spotted at the latest fashion shows.
Comfort but contemporary, chic style is key this year, but that’s not to say this year’s fashion will be boring. Expect to see dramatic accessories, edgy biker chic designs and cool metallics ready to make a statement in your wardrobe.
Want to get ahead of the trends this year? Our Expert in Residence when it comes to all things fashion, Style Coach and Founder of True Colours, Sarah Heron reveals the latest fashion trends we’ll be seeing everywhere in 2023.

GO, GO CARGO
Think tonal, think pockets, think utility and you have a cargo vibe – an androgynous, military and functional look. Add some stylish accessories to polish and pull off this trend that will create a comfortable and chic weekend look. Satin sneaks into the look to elevate simple cargo pants but you’ll also find jackets, joggers and jumpsuits that all embrace this trend.

THE LONG & SHORT OF IT ALL
Shoulder skimming and long drop earrings are easily the hottest jewellery trend on the runways this season. Neck elongating and posture correcting pearls and jewels were showcased by Chanel, Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton.

SHINY OBJECT SYNDROME
We’re used to seeing the shiny things at party season but cool metallics were an interesting showstopping, standout trend at the SS23 catwalk shows. Bikinis, bags, jackets and diverse footwear options all get the gold star treatment.

WEAR YOUR HEART ON YOUR SLEEVE
Pretty prints get a feminine vibe for Spring, with love hearts decorating the collections of Victoria Beckham, Moschino and Paul & Joe, to name but a few. Hearts are everywhere – from bags to bras and dresses to trainers, love is all around us this season.

HANDBAGS AT DAWN
Big and oversized, tote bags are back and Bottega and Hermés are leading the way with many citrus shades, too. Wear with understated neutrals or create a colour clash with bold brights for summer. Glitter, sequins and crystal embellished bags have come out from the shadows for an interesting daytime twist, box bags and wristlets give a new spin on more traditional clutch bags.

DOWN AND DIRTY WITH MOTOCROSS
The biker look is going nowhere but this season combines with athleisure attire for a motocross vibe. Bella and Gigi Hadid were among those celebs showcasing this new twist. Think colour-block leathers, jumpsuits and checkerboard boots to get off the starting blocks.

FOREVER IN BLUE JEANS
Denim has undoubtedly come a long way since its workwear origins and earned its place as a classic on the catwalks. This season sees denim of all shades, sizes and styles. From decorated to distressed, draped and skinny, and boots to sneakers and dresses to shorts, it’s simply a matter of choice.
