Home to the world’s largest play structure, Lilidorei is a magical village home to nine clans who all worship Christmas…

Lilidorei is a magical, mysterious village at The Alnwick Garden that’s full of play and home to nine clans who all worship Christmas.

These clans are ruled by Lord Elfwin, King of Lilidorei, who lives in the largest play structure in the world: Elfwin Drin.

Better still, Elfwin Drin is so big, grown-ups are allowed to play on it, too!

WHAT DOES LILIDOREI LOOK LIKE?

Behind The Treehouse Restaurant at The Alnwick Garden lies a wooded fortress with giant wooden gates. Approach these gates and a booming voice will ask: “who goes there?”

If you manage to sneak past the gatekeeper, you’ll discover Elfwin Drin: a 26-metre-high play structure that’s brimming with slides, rope bridges, hanging birdcages, climbing frames and swings, just waiting to be explored.

To your right, you’ll find Lilidorei village: where you’ll be able to peek inside the wooden houses of each of the nine magical clans to see how they live – with immersive lighting, a state-of-the-art soundscape experience and interactive storytelling helping to bring their stories to life.

To your left, you’ll find the Christmas-themed gift shop, where you can also pick up a tub of Fairy Dust, Goblin Snot or Vegan Vanilla ice cream.

Lilidorei is staffed with Secret Keepers, Story Keepers and The Head of Play, who will help children to unlock their imagination and spot the goblins, hobgoblins, trolls, dwarves, fairies, sprites, pixies and elvies who call Lilidorei home.

WHY CHRISTMAS?

Because it’s the most wonderful time of the year, obviously!

But while the spirit of Christmas has inspired the creation of Lilidorei, this magical world will be open to visitors year-round – and isn’t always Christmas-themed.

Yes, the nine clans all workship the holiday, but they tend to spend 11 out of 12 months squabbling – which means, depending on when you visit, you could find utter pandemonium, (especially at Halloween).

WHAT AGE IS LILIDOREI SUITABLE FOR?

While Lilidorei has been made with ages 11 and under in mind, the play structure is built so that all ages are able to enjoy it.

And good news if you have little ones under 3 – they’re free.

CAN YOU BRING DOGS?

For the safety of all visitors, only assistance dogs are allowed into Lilidorei.

WHAT IF IT RAINS?

Like The Alnwick Garden, Lilidorei is an outdoor attraction, but there’ll always be something to do here whatever the weather.

We’d recommend dressing for a “typical” Northumbrian day out whenever you visit – sunglasses, wellies, sun-tan lotion, and an umbrella should cover it!

HOW ACCESSIBLE IS LILIDOREI?

Lilidorei has been designed with everyone in mind. The lower level of the play structure and the magical village is accessible.
