MEET BESSY’S SWEET BAKES

Expect to be greeted by the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked goods alongside the friendly smile of owner Bethany, often known to many as Bessy, the creative genius behind this bakery.

South Shields local, Bethany, has always had a passion for baking. Her journey began as a child exploring recipe books to try out the best bakes and learning her baking skills from her gran when making teas for their family.

And it’s this love and dedication that one-woman band, Bethany, puts into every sweet treat and that’s evident in every bite.

THE CAKES

Bethany freshly home-bakes her indulgent creations every morning and offers them for sale on a first come first served basis due to often selling out. You can expect a wide range of delicious cakes and drinks, which leaves you with the hardest decision of what to order.

But what we love about Bessy’s Sweet Bakes is that on every visit there will always be some new sweet treats to try as Bethany changes her menu every week, meaning you’ll definitely be coming back for more.

One of Bethany’s signature creations is her Ferrero cookie sandwiches. With two melt-in-your-mouth chocolate cookies and Nutella and chocolate icing filling sandwiched together, each bite is heavenly indulgent. Pair with a steamy, freshly brewed latte and you have the perfect autumnal pick-me-up.
