From a Christmas cocktail masterclass to an embroidery workshop, we unwrap Ad Gefrin’s tree-mendous festive calendar.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and Ad Gefrin is all set to sleigh this festive season with a calendar that promises a snowload of fun.

Tucked away in the scenic Cheviot Hills and the cosy village of Wooler, Ad Gefrin is more than just Northumberland’s first whisky distillery and museum; it’s a historical journey into the Anglo-Saxon era.

This Northumberland hidden gem draws inspiration from a 7th-century royal summer palace discovered just four miles away. Ad Gefrin brings the Anglo-Saxon era to life, narrating tales of forgotten kings and queens, creating an immersive museum experience that unites people and celebrates a new golden age for Northumbria.

As our festivities approach, Ad Gefrin invites us to celebrate Christmas the Anglo-Saxon way.

Forget the Victorian Christmas traditions; the Anglo-Saxons were already celebrating Christmas as a festival known as Yule on 25th December. Did you know that Christmas is actually an Anglo-Saxon word – Cristesmæsse – that was first recorded in 1038?

Now, let’s talk Yule – a blend of ritual, community, and feasting. It’s a tradition that’s all about celebrating together, drawing inspiration from the season’s utility and materials.

And guess what? Ad Gefrin is bringing this festive spirit to life with a sleighful of Yule events that you won’t want to miss.
