COSY WINTER STAYS IN NORTHUMBERLAND
The Danish word hygge (pronounced hue-gah) translates to an atmosphere of warmth, well-being and cosiness – the perfect way to describe the experience at Hygge at Vallum. With beautifully designed, fully equipped cabins, hot tubs and firepits on the doorstep, it’s the ideal spot to unwind and embrace the simple things in life. Think being curled up with a book by the fire or sipping mulled wine in the warm, steamy hot tub.

The cabins
There are four cabins to choose from, all designed with Scandinavian minimalism in mind, blending natural materials and clean lines to create a calm and inviting space. Each cabin features a luxurious en-suite bathroom, a king-sized bed and a fully equipped kitchen, so you can make the most of your self-catering experience.
All cabins come with private firepits, perfect for toasting marshmallows or simply enjoying a hot chocolate as you take in the spectacular Northumberland Dark Skies. If you’ve ever wanted to experience real stargazing, this is your chance – with no light pollution to spoil your view.
For the ultimate indulgence, book one of the two cabins with an outdoor hot tub – Tissø and Mossø – and enjoy the perfect combination of warm, bubbly water, fresh winter air and stargazing right from your private deck.
You can bring your dog along for your adventure, too. Hygge at Vallum is dog-friendly, and there’s a lovely lakeside walk where your four-legged friend can stretch their legs.

Explore the nearby woodlands, walk around the small, tranquil lake, or take in the stunning landscape that stretches out from your cabin. And when you’re ready to indulge in some luxury, there’s plenty nearby.
Speaking of food, you’ll find the Michelin-starred Pine Restaurant just a stone’s throw away, offering an unforgettable tasting menu inspired by the flavours of Northumberland. Or, for a more laid-back vibe, head to Northumberland HQ for a relaxed lunch with a touch of Scandinavian style. And if you fancy a pint and some hearty British pub grub, the Robin Hood Inn is just a short walk from the log cabins.
