A month in the life of our editor: Chapter 3/12: March 2024
We’re flying through this year at a rapid speed and to be honest, this month has been another one heavily focussed on work.
We’ve had our best month ever at High Life North which is insanely exciting and a testament to the hard work of everyone in the team. As a small team of five, it can be intense sometimes as we grow, but I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve built and the way we smash it week in, week out.
Anyway, back to the juicy stuff – despite a quiet month, here’s everything I’ve been loving…
Brunch at My Delhi
Every since I wrote our latest Best Bottomless Brunches in Newcastle guide, I’ve been dreaming about the Butter Chicken Fondue from My Delhi which is on their brunch menu. Last week, my prayers were answered and it was everything I’d hoped it would be. This is a great bottomless bruch spot if you’re looking for great quality food. The vibes are pretty casual, in a good way, staff are fantastic, cocktails are delish and the main thing – your glass is never empty…
Checking out Friki Tiki
Yes, I’m heavily influenced by my own magazine. After reading about the newest cocktail bar in Newcastle, Friki Tiki, I wanted to try it. I’ll be back. Expect a cheerful Hawaiian beach where you can genuinely feel like you’ve been transported somewhere exotic. The frozen pina colada was a vibe match.
Painting obsession
I’m in full house renovation mode now and I’m at the stage where I’m finally getting paint on the walls and seeing progress. This month has been focussed on the kitchen. I used Quartsize to overlay quartz on top of the wooden worktops, and Rust-oleum paint in Ink Blue to update the cupboard doors – I’m so happy with the result as it has completley transformed the kitchen. I’ve decided to use Duvet Day by COAT Paints throughout the whole house which is going on a dream with just one coat.
Spring in Jesmond
Between decorating and working I’ve become quite a home-bod this past couple of months. Being able to step out of my doorstep into Exhibition Park is giving me such relief when I take time for a break. When the sky is blue or the sun is setting over the Town Moor, I feel so grateful to live in this part of the world.
