Cocktails in the clouds: Elevate your girls’ night out at SIX Rooftop, Baltic
Sometimes the only therapy we need is a good ol’ girls’ night out. And we know just the go-to spot for a night of sophisticated sipping – SIX Rooftop.
And with it being World Cocktail Day tomorrow, it would be rude not to, right?
TAKING GIRLS’ NIGHT TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL
After what feels like forever, the iconic Quayside restaurant, formerly known as SIX Baltic, reopened its doors in February after an impressive makeover. Having just celebrated its 15th anniversary, SIX Rooftop seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with the venue’s rich history and unique architecture.
Oh, and when we say SIX Rooftop has taken things up a notch, we’re not joking. They’ve introduced a dedicated bar area, a cosy viewing bar, an exclusive Chef’s Table, and a revamped menu.
As soon as you step in, you’re greeted by the venue’s charm – a perfect mix of wood and marble-style furnishings. The deep natural palette with tones of green adds to the venue’s renewed style, while the green foliage and bar steal the show.
The overall vibe? With two AA Rosettes and after recently being added to the Michelin Guide, you can expect a tranquil dining experience – making it the latest chic addition to the city’s bar scene, perfect for cocktail catch-ups with breathtaking views.
COCKTAILS IN THE CLOUDS
Imagine this: a cocktail in hand while you’re putting the world to rights, as you’re watching the sunset over the city skyline. SIX Rooftop offers panoramic views of the Quayside that’ll really take your breath away.
The new bar at SIX Rooftop positions the venue as one of the newest Newcastle cocktail bars. The extensive cocktail list features a mix of ingredients from local suppliers, including Ad Gefrin in Northumberland.
Our eyes are on the Thirlings Negroni, English Pimm’s spritz and Northumbrian Iced Tea. There are also five different espresso martinis – classic, Toblerone, caramel, tiramisu and white chocolate raspberry.
Oh, and we have to mention the Italian limoncello spritz, spiced apple and the Northumbrian gin spritz, too – we’ll probably just have to order them all…
BAR NIBBLES
Not sure about you, but after a few cocktails, we always become peckish. For a more relaxed dining option, SIX Rooftop offers a selection of bar nibbles, small plates, large plates and sweet treats from its Lounge menu.
If you’re after something small to nibble on, go for chorizo and Northumbrian Scotch egg, Yorkshire halloumi fries and/or pork crackling with Bramley apple. Or if you prefer something to share treat yourself to a selection of charcuterie, a seafood plate or a luxury cheese board.
But if you fancy a large plate, how about a Dexter rib burger and skin-on fries, IPA battered haddock and hand-cut chips, pea salad or an apple glazed ham shank and parmesan and truffle chips to satisfy your appetite?
And if you’re after something sweet (we don’t blame you for treating yourself, it’s girls’ night after all), order Northumbrian gelato, white chocolate mousse and Gariguette strawberries with almond crumble or sticky toffee pudding.
HLN TOP TIP: Pre-booking is not essential to dine in the bar so you can be as spontaneous as you like with your snacking.
