Café Floriana – Sunderland’s new blooming beautiful brunch spot
- Advertisement Feature
Brunch is always a good idea, right? And let us tell you, Café Floriana is already turning heads in the brunch scene in Sunderland.
Kate and Emilia, a dynamic mother-daughter duo, opened Café Floriana just last month, and it’s already been a massive hit.
Formerly known for Front Parlour on Stockton Road, they quickly outgrew their space thanks to their dedicated customers. Now, with a move to larger premises and a rebrand, they’ve taken their success to the next level.
Situated in a stunning Victorian building, right across from the Museum & Winter Gardens, Café Floriana has much of its original charm but with a vibrant floral twist.
Think parquet flooring, elegant panelling and floral features at every turn. It’s not just a feast for your taste buds but a treat for your eyes, too.
Here’s what to expect…
THE VIBE
At Café Floriana, they’re all about fresh food, great coffee and creating a welcoming atmosphere. As you step into the bright and spacious café you’ll be greeted with a burst of colour, character and cosiness. The space has been designed to be just as visually appealing as their food, ensuring it’s a place where everyone feels at home.

Oh, and did we mention they are dog-friendly?
THE FOOD
What sets Café Floriana apart is that they aim to cater to every age range and create a welcoming space for all. And their menu reflects this ethos, offering a diverse range of dishes that stand out from the crowd.
Food that looks too good to eat (but you’ll want to anyway)
Brunch: Served daily from 10am to 3pm, their all-day brunch menu features mouthwatering options like crispy serrano bagel, very berry loaded bagel and cherry tomato pesto bagel. If you’re craving something hearty, try their range of loaded sourdough or breakfast bowls.
Lunch: From 12pm to 3pm, indulge in deli sandwiches like Italian chicken, Reuben and Caprese, or opt for a delicious hot tuna sandwich. And don’t forget about their delectable cakes and bakes, available all-day.
What makes Café Floriana’s dishes unique?
Kate and Emilia take pride in their dishes, with favourites like smashed avocado, hot halloumi, and their deli sandwiches keeping customers coming back for more. Alongside their core all-day brunch menu, Café Floriana offers daily specials featuring delights like soups and flatbreads.
With fully vegan and gluten-free menus available, nobody is left out at Café Floriana. They source all their ingredients, from bread to cakes, from local businesses in the North East, making sure to support other indies in their community.
WHAT’S NEXT
Stay tuned for exciting events at Café Floriana. They’ll be bringing back their popular monthly supper clubs, featuring Mediterranean-themed canapés, sharing boards, sides and desserts.
