PRIDE IN SUNDERLAND

Sunderland Pride is the biggest yet, with a whole month of free music, exhibitions, films, family events and more. The jam-packed schedule includes a mini-Pride for children, family picnics, a photography exhibition, coffee mornings, talks, a Pride Film Festival and even an afterparty hosted by celebrity cleaning diva Kim Woodburn. The month will end with the Pride in the City concert, headlined by boy band East 17 and featuring other incredible acts and local queer artists. The festival aims to bring people together and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with fun, informative and inclusive experiences throughout June.

BALTIC SHOP CREATES: TERRAZZO TRINKET TRAY

Where: Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead

At this hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own colourful trinket tray in a fun terrazzo design. You’ll be guided through the whole process by expert Kay Carter, who runs a North East design studio focusing on sustainability. Meet some new people, enjoy complimentary refreshments and leave with your very own tray for holding jewellery, stationery and more.

BIRDS, BEES, BIKES AND TREES LAUNCH DAY

Celebrate the launch of Birds, Bees, Bikes & Trees at BALTIC – a three-year-long project in partnership with North East Young Dads & Lads and Newcastle University. The Front Room will be a hub of activity, with a range of creative and informative things to do. Some highlights include: Meet the bees and honey-tasting, build a beehive, meet a climate expert and kittiwake learning.

DECORATE A COOKIE SURROUNDED BY NATURE

Looking for an activity that will engage the children? It doesn’t get better than cookies. Head to the Waterside Cafe at Washington Wetland Centre to get stuck into this fun session. The whole family will get to choose a cookie shape and decorate it with icing and sprinkles.

LUNA NIGHT MARKET: A HORROR SPECIAL

If you love all things creepy, the Luna Night Market is the perfect event for you. Head to The Biscuit Factory for a night of horror, with 40 alternative small businesses selling wonderfully weird and spooky wares. You can also look forward to a terror-inducing stage show, themed cocktails, sinful street food and a fancy dress competition. Get into your scariest costume (highly encouraged) and enjoy a night of horrifying fun.
