A groundbreaking health and wellness technology is launching in the North East – we got the inside scoop

Weight-loss drugs and “miracle” treatments have attracted mainstream attention in recent months for their game-changing effects on tackling obesity.
As health and wellness awareness continues to grow across the UK, people are becoming more concerned with their mental health and how weight loss, diets and exercise may affect that.
One treatment that could revolutionise the health and wellness industry is the Emerald Laser – which has just launched in the North East with RT Aesthetics.
The Whickham-based practice recently became the first practice in the North East to launch the groundbreaking technology.

The Emerald Laser is a safe, non-invasive, non-surgical fat loss treatment that shrinks fat cells in stubborn areas of the body.
Whereas other laser methods may cause cell death, Emerald targets white fat cells, shrinking them and repurposing them. It creates a pore in the cell where the fatty acids leak out of the cell and are naturally flushed through your lymphatic system.
Following the release of fatty acids into the body, the individual is filled with a burst of energy. Therefore, instead of needing 5-7 days of downtime like with similar treatments, Emerald gives people a new lease of life after a couple of treatments.

Ryan describes the technology as “before its time” and that “it’s set to become huge in the next couple of years.”
There is a certain level of assurance that clients can rely on when booking an Emerald Laser appointment because the treatment has 24 FDA clearances and was ‘double-blind’ tested – which is an experiment where information which may influence the participants is withheld until after the experiment is complete.
Similarly, due to the hefty £130,000 price tag of Emerald Laser, there is a certain level of professionalism that’s attached to the device that other ‘fat-freezing’ treatments might not have.

“There are more side effects with therapies like Cryolipolysis. You can buy it anywhere on the internet for £1,000 and open up your own clinic tomorrow, said Ryan. “Whereas, with the Emerald Laser its price pointed at £130,000 and then only sold to clinics that are nurse or doctor-led. It’s a big thing for us because you know you’re going to a medical clinic.”
Before investing the hefty £130,000 into the device, Ryan and his team scoured the internet for two months to try and find one bad review. However, they couldn’t find any downsides to people’s experiences with the Emerald Laser.

RT Aesthetics use several different non-invasive liposuction therapies, including Cryolipolysis. Ryan asserts that these treatments are still effective but has noticed a vast improvement with the Emerald Laser.
“With Cyro, the results are alright. Whereas, with Emerald, we have only had it for two weeks and have had people with six or seven inches of losses already.”
Other forms of liposuction are used to target specific pockets of fat on the body. However, Emerald can be targeted on the stomach or thighs but clients can notice weight loss on their arms or legs.

This is because Emerald causes “cell change” rather than the “cell death” which liposuction causes as it permanently removes fat cells.
Studies show that humans have two ages – a chronological and a biological age. Your chronological age is based on when you were born; whereas, a biological age, which is the age at which your body functions.
Ryan used the example of a 35-year-old man who was tested. He went to the gym every day and fasted four times a week. However, his biological age was 50.

“Although he was doing things that he thought were healthy, it turns out they weren’t. We can now do a test to tell you what to do to change to bring down your biological age,” said Ryan. “In his example, it was to stop exercising so much and only fast once a week. Just by making those two changes, his biological age dropped to 32.”
Therefore, with a feature that sounds like something straight out of an Aldous Huxley Dystopian novel, the device can “biohack” your cells and lower your biological age.
