Think stepping into a room filled with pure joy and creativity is just a dream? Well, we can tell you those dreams can become a reality.

This summer, Happy Rooms: Middlesbrough is bringing a colourful and interactive experience to the region, guaranteed to bring a smile at every turn.

Opening on Saturday 3rd August, the venue in Middlesbrough Town Centre will feature 12 artist-designed rooms, transforming into a vibrant, colourful playground filled with things to do, play and enjoy across an indoor trail suitable for all ages.

The concept? Exploring what it means to be and feel happy, using colourful interactive installations, projections, a mini silent disco, activities, workshops, artist pop-ups and thoughtful exhibitions.

Think dancing under the glow of a giant mirrorball, relaxing beneath the clouds and celebrating surrounded by confetti fanfare… you’ll snapping Instagrammable moments at every turn.

Brought to you by Stellar Creates – the organisers of popular event, Nightfall, – Happy Rooms continues their passion for bringing people together outside of traditional arts venues, instead, transforming unused and forgotten buildings into temporary homes for artist-designed spaces and interactive experiences.

The experience is expected to last around 60-90 minutes and there’ll also be a pop-up café and the Happy Tuck Shop to hang out and enjoy afterwards. Plus, every visitor will get free ice cream – we scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream at Happy Rooms.

Keep an eye on the website for information on artist drop-in workshops as well as creative surprises and fun galore. This experience is as much for families as it is for adults – promoting joy and happiness at every age.

Rachel Willis and Lyndsey Stephenson are directors of Teesside-based Stellar Creates. Rachel says: “We are so excited to bring Happy Rooms to Middlesbrough. This continues our passion for bringing people together outside of traditional arts venues, transforming unused and forgotten buildings into temporary homes for artist-designed spaces.

Lyndsey adds: “Happy Rooms delves into the essence of happiness. It will celebrate play, the great outdoors, colour, family, rest and relaxation. Everyone is invited to step into a world of joy and delight and let your imagination be ignited.
