LUXURY GLAMPING IN NORTHUMBERLAND
Glebe Holidays Northumberland provides two distinct yet equally luxurious accommodations: The Glebe Retreat and The Old School. Each offers a unique experience designed to immerse you in the natural beauty of Northumberland while providing all the modern amenities you need for a comfortable stay.
The Glebe Retreat: A Unique Glamping Space
With its unique design and luxurious amenities, it’s no wonder The Glebe Retreat has been recently named one of The Times’ “25 Best Cabin Stays in the UK.”
For those seeking to be at one with nature, The Glebe Retreat is an adult-only, one-bedroom eco-lodge that embodies luxury and seclusion. Inspired by biophilic design principles, this contemporary domed structure connects you with the surrounding environment. This relaxing rural retreat features four distinct zones representing the elements: Earth, Water, Fire and Air.

Earth: The Glebe Retreat’s Main Living Space
The main living area is a 40m² eco-led dome raised on piles, giving it a floating appearance. This super-insulated space provides a cosy, comfortable environment no matter the weather, and the large deck area is perfect for wildlife spotting.

Water: The romantic al fresco bath experience
One of the retreat’s standout features is the al fresco bath, carved from a single river stone boulder. Weighing in at 1.5 tons, this bath is big enough for two and offers an unforgettable experience under the star-studded Northumberland sky – one of the darkest skies in the UK.

Fire: The Corten steel fire pit
The Corten steel fire pit, designed to replicate the shape of a raindrop, is ideal for toasting marshmallows or enjoying a hot drink. The circular enclosure shelters you from the bad weather, making it a cosy spot for evening gatherings.

Air: The hanging lava chair
Suspended from a low tree branch, the hanging lava chair made from basalt fibres is a unique place to relax. Whether you want to read a book, watch the world go by with a vino, or listen to the birds sing, it’s the perfect perch.
The Glebe Retreat doesn’t skimp on luxury. It features a super king-size bed with Egyptian cotton linens, a Nespresso coffee machine, soft furnishings by Mulberry and Ferm Living and a Bang and Olufsen Bluetooth speaker. There’s also complimentary Netflix and a selection of board games perfect for cosy nights in.
HLN TOP TIP: Guests staying three or more nights receive a complimentary bottle of prosecco, continental breakfast hamper, early check-in and reduced nightly rate.
The Old School: Where history and luxury blend together
Built around 1855, The Old School is a high-specification, two-bedroom stone home that has been meticulously renovated to offer luxury while preserving its historical charm.
The spacious master bedroom features a super king-size bed with high-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens, while the second bedroom can be set up as a double or twin room to suit your needs. The bathroom is a sanctuary in itself, boasting a freestanding stone bath, basin and a walk-in shower with complimentary Noble Isle toiletries.
The interiors are adorned with furnishings by Timothy Oulton and Mulberry, lighting by David Hunt and Ralph Lauren, and all the modern conveniences you could wish for, including a 55″ smart TV with Netflix, a Bang and Olufsen speaker, and superfast broadband.
For entertainment, there’s a games room complete with table football, a PlayStation and numerous board games. The private garden with a BBQ and fire pit area offers the perfect spot for summer evenings, while the wood-burning stove provides cosiness during the winter months.
