The new St. James’ STACK opens tomorrow – here’s what you need to know…
Anyone who shed a tear when our beloved STACK closed its doors last year will be happy to know that the highly anticipated St. James’ STACK will open its doors to the public at midday on Thursday 8th August.
The 3,000-capacity fanzone will open just in time for the curtain-raising Sela Weekender, providing a new entertainment hub for fans attending matches at St. James’ Park.
A central plaza and main stage with large screens has created an immersive experience for the live entertainment we know and love from STACK.
Open seven days, the venue will operate 10am-midnight every day of the week.
Alongside Newcastle United-themed resident bar units – including Local Hero, Wor Bar and the Toon Kit Room – the space is a new home for 11 original STACK vendors and renowned North East street food vendors.
Here are the top 10 things you need to know:
IS ST. JAMES’ STACK ONLY FOR FOOTBALL FANS?
Nope. The venue is for everyone. STACK is also very family-friendly, and up until 8pm, youngsters are welcome to visit, as long as anyone under 18 is accompanied by an adult aged 25 or over.
WHAT ARE THE OPENING HOURS?
Yolo Coffee and Kitchen will be open from 8.00am until 8.00pm, while the rest of the venue will be open from 10.00am until midnight daily.
DO YOU NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE?
No, visitors can just walk in. There is no need to book and it’s free to enter.
DO I NEED A TICKET?
No, there are no tickets necessary to come into St. James’ STACK. However, there may be some specific ticketed events in the future.
CAN I WATCH THE MATCH?
All Newcastle United televised matches will be shown on the big screens, as will all other major sporting events. There will be no live streaming of any games that are not being shown on TV.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
Smart casual is the dress code for STACK. Sportwear is fine on match days but may not be considered suitable on non-match days. Newcastle United shirts are welcome. Absolutely no fancy dress.
CAN I BRING MY OWN FOOD AND DRINK?
The beauty of STACK is the huge variety of the food and drink on offer, so there is something for everyone. Only items bought at the venue can be consumed.

Yes. There is a lift providing access to the upper plaza and there are accessible toilets on both the upper and lower levels.
