Experience afternoon tea in Northumberland the way it should be at Matfen Hall.

We’re talking about an elegant drawing room with views across the Northumberland countryside, a delicious selection of savoury and sweet treats prepared by experienced pastry chefs, and taking your time while sipping champagne in the afternoon.

Following an impressive multi-million-pound refurbishment of the Grade II listed hotel last year, Matfen Hall is now considered one of the UK’s most elegant and luxurious hotels, recognised this year in the ‘2024 Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence UK’.

And it’s right on our doorstep.

The Setting: The Drawing Room

The afternoon tea experience now unfolds in The Drawing Room, an elegant space with comfy sofas and armchairs to relax.

The high ceilings and large windows provide natural light, and you’ll feel like you’re at Bridgerton, with views looking out over the vast parkland golf course and gardens.

One of the room’s most notable features is its fireplace, originally commissioned for Buckingham Palace, which stands as a testament to Matfen Hall’s historical richness and luxury, making it a truly special place to enjoy afternoon tea.
