“Whatever we lose (like a you, or a me), it is always ourselves we find in the sea”
E.E Cummings
Perched above Warkworth beach, boasting unparalleled sea views, The Dunes in Warkworth is a luxurious coastal staycation retreat that sleeps six guests and one dog.
Newly constructed by its owners in 2023, The Dunes has just been graded a 5-star property by VisitEngland, which said it is ‘absolutely stunning’.
THE PROPERTY
On sunny days, open a bottle of wine on the first-floor lounge balcony and wile away the afternoon, or enjoy the ample opportunities for outdoor dining in the spacious lawned garden.
On cooler days, the well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare a delicious meal, which you can enjoy in the large, sociable dining area. The property’s rich, earthy tones provide a cosy backdrop to the moody North Sea.
Every bedroom in the property has been designed with comfort and luxury in mind – there’s one king, one double and one twin room to choose from.
Plus, there are four bathrooms, each stocked with luxury towels and complimentary Apothecary toiletries.
Your staycation will be easy and relaxing from the moment you arrive, as there’s private parking for up to three vehicles, an EV charging point and fast, reliable Wi-Fi throughout the property.
A WARM WELCOME

The owners, Hilary and Patrick Arkle, first came to Warkworth in 1991 with their son and fell in love with the area. And who’s blaming them? It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, after all. From that moment, it was their dream to own a holiday home in the area, and in 2022, their labour of love started. They began brick by brick, bringing their vision to life.
Their love and passion is most evident in the warm welcome you receive arriving at the property, where you’ll be greeted with a Northumbrian Welcome Hamper.
The hamper includes local fresh produce such as chutneys, jam and wine – giving a small taste of the culinary delights available in the region. Plus, you’ll receive a bespoke property and local area guide telling you all you need to know and helping you make the most of your stay.
Talking about the property, Hilary and Patrick said:
“Our favourite thing about the house is the peace and tranquillity of the surrounding farmland and wonderful coast. The Dunes has been designed to make the most of the breathtakingly beautiful views. Walks are literally on our doorstep so from the very first foot outside you can start exploring the outstanding wild and rugged Northumberland coast.”
If you’re travelling with a dog, they’ll experience the same warm welcome, too. A selection of dog treats and a comfy bed are provided for your canine companion – everything they need after a long walk on the beach.
THE LOCATION
Overlooking the beach and the golf course, there’s a lot to enjoy in the immediate vicinity of the property. A seafront walk along expansive golden sands is quite literally on the doorstep, as the coastal path running from Warkworth Village to Alnmouth passes right by The Dunes.

If you’ve had your fill of sea air, Warkworth Village is a 10-minute stroll away.
Filled with charming cafes, restaurants, traditional pubs and independent shops, you could spend hours just wandering around and exploring.
Warkworth Castle is always worth a visit for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in history, with plenty to do for the kids, too.
Foodies and chocolate lovers must visit Cabosse, a bespoke chocolatier who has been making chocolate in Warkworth since 2008.
If art is more your bag, pop into the Fenwick Gallery and take a look at the unique collection of paintings, prints, sculptures, jewellery, ceramics and glass on display.
