Fenwick Newcastle’s latest dining offering, FRED’S, has opened this week, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and champagne, including the first of its kind ‘supreme’ filled croissants. Inspired by founding family member Fred Fenwick’s passion for French culture, FRED’S is a modern take on the Terrace Tea Room, which he opened in Fenwick in Newcastle in 1911. Expect flowering tea served with Viennoiserie (made in-store by Fenwick’s patisserie chefs), or FRED’S signature supreme croissant sandwiches filled with lobster and truffle, classic BLT and more…

Every September, thousands of volunteers across England organise events to celebrate our history and culture. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – all of which are free to explore. From Jesmond Old Cemetery to the Tyne Theatre & Opera House and many more. As House celebrates its 1st birthday, they’ll be starting the weekend early with a tasting full of bangers. FAYE GREENMAN: ROSE TINTED GLASSES GALLERY SHOW

“Rose Tinted Glasses,” is Faye Greenman’s first solo art exhibition. This three-day event promises to be a profound journey through themes of love and self-discovery. Attendees will experience oil paintings that form a narrative, exploring the emotional landscape of romance and the quest for self-love. Inspired by documentary-style, polaroid visuals, each painting serves as a portal into moments of connection and introspection. Expect an immersive journey through the highs and lows of love, as well as live painting sessions, refreshments and interactive elements.

TRIBUTE TO HANS ZIMMER ILLUMINATED

LAST CHANCE TO SEE TURNER: ART, INDUSTRY AND NOSTALGIA

Where: Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle

Time is running out to see The Laing Art Gallery’s showcase of more than 20 works by Joseph Mallord William Turner – one of Britain’s most prolific painters. His famous painting The Fighting Temeraire (1839) takes centre stage at the exhibiton. The piece is a tribute to the ship HMS Temeraire, which played a significant role in The Battle of Trafalgar and was pulled by two tugboats built in Tyneside. Explore two galleries of works by Turner, learning more about his life, career and the rise of steam power and industry in Britain. One not to miss.
