With brunch, lunch, Sunday dinner and delicious coffee on the menu, Whitechurch is a cosy and calm environment for all to enjoy; including our four-legged friends.
The Bridge Tavern
7 Akenside Hill, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 3UF
This brewpub on Newcastle’s Quayside serves artisan ales from its on-site microbrewery. They prioritise locally sourced, seasonal comfort food, and we have to say, it’s delicious. We’re fans of the pig’s head croquettes, the meat sharing platter, the haggis toastie, and the spicy black pudding with mash (we could go on…). Why leave the puppy at home when this dog-friendly central location welcomes your pooch with open arms – and dog treats, too.
Lola Jeans
With two locations around the region, Lola Jeans is a big lover of all canines. The venues offer signature cocktails, award-winning burgers and sharing boards to drool over in the most Instagrammable surroundings. Located in the heart of Felton village, The Northumberland Arms is an 1820s-built pub, hotel and restaurant that caters well for our furry friends. Approximately one mile from the A1, its resident AA Rosette and Michelin-experienced chefs serve up traditional pie and ale pub dishes using locally sourced ingredients. We love the veggie pan haggerty with a poached egg and mustard sauce. For meat lovers, the rib eye with truffle and parmesan duck fat chips is not to be missed.

There are few things better than a dog walk along the coast followed by a rustic, warm and cosy meal inspired by some British classics. Dog-friendly and perfectly located near the beach and park so you can pop in after a walk, they have a pretty extensive menu, including a traditional Sunday dinner. There’s even live music playing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, although it’s worth noting dogs have to vacate the pub after 8.00pm during the weekend – we can’t imagine they’d enjoy a sing-a-long as much as we do.
