A new exhibition at the Laing Art Gallery explores over 200 years of landscape painting in the North of England and Scotland, focusing on the diverse and dramatic landscapes of the regions and how artists have depicted not only the world around us but also our place within it. Romance to Realities: The Northern Landscape and Shifting Identities includes works by early pioneers of British landscape art, such as John Knox, Alexander Nasmyth, and John Martin, through to modern and contemporary works by Anne Redpath, L.S. Lowry, and Joan Eardley.

Live Well With Cancer: The self-care place

When: Saturday 5th October, 4.00pm – 6.00pm

Where: Jasmine Yoga, Tynemouth

This free yoga event provides a place of comfort and ease for anyone impacted by cancer, including those with a diagnosis, loved ones, carers and oncology staff. Yogi Steph will lead the 2-hour relaxation session, which will involve gentle movement, easing tension and exploring restful shapes for the nervous system. Props will be provided so that you can get as comfortable as possible while practising breathwork and mindfulness. Let your body and mind find peace as you look out at views of the sea and sky, and enjoy a warm drink and homemade treat afterwards while watching the sun set.
