Here at High Life North we’re taking you through some of the best student nights in Newcastle that you can enjoy with your new friends.
Whether it’s a night in the pub, partying until the early hours or exploring the brilliant activities that Newcastle has to offer, there’s something for everyone.
A Jesmond night out
Living in Jesmond? This residential area of Newcastle is known for its welcoming attitude to students. Start on the main street, Osborne Road, famous for its great range of pubs with student deals and showing live sport. On a Tuesday, start the night with a delicious half price burger from Spy Bar, then make your way down the road to Osbornes, also known as Soho Jesmond, where it is £2.00 Tuesday on selected pints.
Next, walk 15 minutes to the bottom of Osborne Road to the Holy Hobo, offering 2-for-1 on all drinks. It is often packed with students on the dance floor and you can show off your singing skills on the karaoke.
The Dog and Parrot
Fancy staying in the centre of town? Then we’ve just the place for you. Great music, chill vibes and unbelievable drinks deals, The Dog and Parrot is the perfect place for students. Located across the road from the Centre for Life, it’s renowned for its student deals and unique ambience. Open until 2.00am every night, it is the ideal place to get a taste of the famous Newcastle nightlife. Plus, they’ve just launched a new food menu which is insane.
Only a 5-minute walk to the Bigg Market clubs, start your night off in The Dog and Parrot before exploring what the rest of the city has to offer.
The Bigg Market
If you’re doing a night out in Newcastle, then the Bigg Market is a must-try. The world-renowned Bigg Market is known for its huge clubs and brilliant student deals. Every weekend thousands flock to the nightclubs with a huge range on offer. Dance on the table in Bierkeller before singing some karaoke in Cosy Joe’s.
Many of the clubs offer fantastic student deals, including Market Shaker’s early bird offers and Tropicana’s £1.00 Jägerbombs!
Golf Fang, Newcastle
Fancy a more chill night? Check out Golf Fang, Newcastle, a crazy golf place like no other. With stunning graffiti art and numerous 18-hole golf courses, this is a must-visit if you live in the city. Just a short bus ride from the city centre, located in Byker, enjoy a round of golf with a brilliant DJ and delicious cocktails, creating an iconic atmosphere.
Open until late every evening, it is perfect for a date night or a night out with friends, with students playing for only £6.50.
Night on the Quayside
The famous Newcastle Quayside is renowned up and down the country for its astonishing architecture including The Glasshouse, the Baltic Flour Mill and the famous Tyne Bridge. It’s also not a bad place to have a night out. Begin your evening at the Quayside Wetherspoons overlooking the River Tyne for some cheap drinks before heading downstream to the Pitcher and Piano. With gorgeous views of the Millenium Bridge and delicious cocktails, it is one of the best bars in town.
More of a fan of traditional Irish pubs? Why not try out The Dubliner? Perhaps the most famous Irish pub in Newcastle, The Dubliner is open until 2.00am and usually boasts fantastic live music with songs everyone can sing along to. In one of the UK’s most iconic sites, what more could you ask for?
Lane 7, Newcastle
If drinking isn’t for you, then you have to try Lane 7 for a brilliant, sober night out. Open every night of the week until late, this incredible venue doesn’t just do bowling. Located on St James’ Boulevard, Lane 7 offers an exciting range of different activities with no chance of you getting bored. From bowling to shuffleboard and curling to ping pong, this place has it all.
Enjoy a night of games in this 1950s-themed bowling alley, with bowling starting from just £9.00 per person. Grab your friends and experience all types of unique activities that you won’t find anywhere else in the town, with no need to drink a drop of alcohol.
