Christmas is just around the corner, and it’s time to pull on those cosy winter jumpers and prepare for a fun, fabulous and festive day at Baltic.
The Winter Warmer event on Saturday 30th November 2024 is set to be a heartwarming experience filled with activities, exhibitions and of course, a sprinkle of Christmas magic.
Here’s what to expect…
SHOP LOCAL THIS CHRISTMAS
Kick off your Christmas shopping at the Baltic Shop, where you’ll find a selection of homeware, prints and unique gifts perfect for everyone on your list. Stroll through the Happy Mart pop-up, featuring playful and whimsical pieces from textile artist Bianco Perry and ceramicist Alex Sickling. Their work captures the joy in everyday life, making it an ideal place to find that one-of-a-kind gift.
And don’t miss the Endless Love Makers Market on Level 1, showcasing over 60 stalls filled with locally made ceramics, jewellery, textiles, prints, illustrations, botanicals and more. This will be a treasure trove of gifts perfect for your loved ones who loves art and design.
SWEETEN THE DAY WITH GINGERBREAD
What’s Christmas without a little gingerbread fun? Head over to the Gingerbread Making station, running from 10am to 5pm. Enjoy free gingerbread cookies to decorate and eat while you relax in the Front Room. Whether you’re a gingerbread connoisseur or trying it for the first time, it’s an adorable way to celebrate the season.
ENGAGING WORKSHOPS AND ACTIVITIES
This year, Baltic are excited to offer a variety of engaging workshops. Join the Monster Head Plant Pot Workshop from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm, where you can learn hand-building techniques from the talented Lucy Baxendale for just £40 (including a ticket to the Makers Market).
For the younger crowd, the Young People Takeover from 10am to 12pm is a free drop-in activity which invites you to get creative through various materials, led by talented Baltic artists.
DISCOVER THE SECRETS OF TREES
Dive into the world of nature with Tree Stories sessions at 10:15am, 11:15am and 12:15pm. Learn from local tree experts about the fascinating secrets of trees while exploring Heartwood, Baltic’s stunning exhibition featuring prints made from the felled Sycamore Gap tree.
TAKE A GUIDED TOUR
Join Baltic’s Guided Exhibition Tours at 11:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm. These informal spotlight tours give you insights into the current exhibitions and the Baltic building.
A WINTER RAFFLE TO KEEP BALTIC FREE
As a community hub, the team believe in keeping Baltic accessible to us. Take part in the donation winter raffle throughout the day to raise money towards the campaign. Stay tuned, prizes are to be announced soon…
