This year, Christmas begins in Alnwick is set to be a cracker, and as the saying goes, the more, the merrier – so they invite you to join in the celebrations.
Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of this festive weekend in Alnwick.
ALNWICK CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON
Friday 22nd November from 4pm
It’s officially Christmas when the traditional Alnwick Christmas light switch on happens in the historic Market Place. Activities start off at 4pm, with festive cheer, children’s rides, food and drink and live music from the Playhouse Concert Band. At 7pm, the Duchess of Northumberland will turn on the lights, bringing Alnwick’s streets to life with unique Christmas lights made by a dedicated team of volunteers.
These handmade displays, supported by local businesses, add a charming, quirky twist to the town’s cobbled streets, making it a truly special sight every year. Right after the switch on, Santa will arrive on his sleigh, thanks to Alnwick Lions, bringing extra Christmas magic for the little ones.
DRUM AND LIGHT PERFORMANCE BY SPARK!

This year, Alnwick will be lit up as the incredible Spark! illuminated LED drummers will put on an electrifying performance on stage in the Market Place. The Alnwick Allstars Choir will be warming the crowd up, performing Christmas songs on stage, before SPARK! enter the Market Place to get the festivities started.
