Is a superyacht holiday on your 2025 bucket list? It could be a more achievable dream than you think…

For many, the world of luxury yachting is seen from the outside looking in as an aspirational lifestyle reserved for the rich and famous – but don’t let celebrities on Instagram fool you – a yachting holiday is more affordable than you might think.

We spoke to Jesmond-based superyacht specialists, West Nautical, to debunk the myths.

What is a superyacht holiday?

With a luxury yacht holiday, you’re ensured complete privacy for you and your party, alongside unparalleled access to the world’s best locations. Every yacht features ensuite cabins, an interior dining and lounge area, and lots of outdoor space throughout the decks for recreation and dining al fresco.

Your charter activities can be as relaxed or as adrenaline-filled as you like. All yachts come equipped with a range of water sports equipment and, for those in need of relaxation, some larger yachts even have a trained spa therapist as part of their regular crew, alongside onboard gyms, saunas, steam rooms and more.

All luxury yachts have a qualified captain and crew, including an experienced chef who will create a range of cuisines to match your tastes. The stewardesses are trained in various service styles, from silver service to the more casual ‘family style’.

When?

You can charter a yacht all year round. Depending on the location, some areas and locations are more favourable at certain times of year due to the seasons and weather conditions. For example, the Mediterranean is ideal for yacht charter from May to October, whereas the Caribbean is perfect for yacht charter from November to March.

Where?

Yachts are available to charter in any destination in the world. They can vary from cruising the Mediterranean in the summer to doing a diving holiday in the Galapagos, or an adventure in Costa Rica. No destination is out of reach.

Some popular destinations include the South of France, the Amalfi Coast, Corsica and Sardinia, the Balearic Islands, Greece, Croatia, Turkey, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean.

It’s more affordable than you think…

When thinking of the cost of a superyacht holiday, it might seem out of reach but here are some comparisons based on a week-long yachting holiday in various popular locations, to show that it is more affordable than you might think.

Versus cost of well-known shore-based holidays:

While we acknowledge the cost is not to be taken lightly, when compared to luxury shoreside holidays the price of a yacht holiday becomes less inaccessible.

Sandals Royal Bahamian, Bahamas

  • Beachfront Suite, all-inclusive with Butler service works out at £3,452 per person for one week

Sandy Lane, Barbados

  • Luxury Ocean Room with breakfast included works out at £11,376 per person for one week

Ski Chalet in Chamonix

  • Catered chalet in Chamonix, sleeping a total of 10 guests works out at £3,100 per person for one week

Private suite on a cruise

  • Sapphire Veranda Suite with butler service works out at £5,050 per person for one week

Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai

  • Regal Suite, all-inclusive works out at £5,120 per person for one week

So yes, it’s not cheap, BUT if you’d love to experience a superyacht holiday, it’s actually more attainable than you think. Grab your friends and start saving…
