Let’s do the Time Warp again! The one and only Jason Donovan is making a return to Newcastle Theatre Royal, donning fishnets and sequins to star as the outrageous Dr. Frank ’n’ Furter in Richard O’Brien’s legendary The Rocky Horror Show.

This cult classic will hit the stage from Monday 27th January to Saturday 1st February as part of its UK tour – and trust us, you won’t want to miss the party – the perfect way to beat those January blues.

Yes, pop icon, Neighbours heartthrob and all-around superstar Jason Donovan is back in the corset-clad role that’s been turning heads for over 25 years. The last time Jason played Frank ’n’ Furter was in 1998, so it’s a treat for us UK fans to see him bring back to life this iconic character – especially after he wowed Australian audiences in a sell-out Sydney season.

“I’m thrilled to dive back into the exhilarating role of Frank ’n’ Furter with a fantastic new cast and Time Warp with audiences across the UK,” Jason says. “We promise to deliver the freshest Rocky ever. So, buckle up for a wild and wicked ride.”

This isn’t Jason’s first time entertaining us Geordies. He last graced the Newcastle Theatre Royal stage in 2022, playing Pharaoh in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. But it’s not just musicals that make Jason a legend. With over 13 million albums sold worldwide, a platinum debut and hits like Too Many Broken Hearts, his career spans pop, West End and on screen.

WHY WE LOVE THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW

Since its debut in 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs, The Rocky Horror Show has captured hearts and high kicks worldwide. This quirky blend of sci-fi, comedy and outrageous rock ’n’ roll has played in over 30 countries and been translated into 20 languages.

Directed by Christopher Luscombe, this latest version brings a fresh spin to the musical you know and love. Expect all the hits, including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet, Science Fiction/Double Feature and the ultimate dance floor anthem, The Time Warp.

It’s a tale of two innocent college sweethearts, Brad and Janet, who stumble into the home of the eccentric Frank ’n’ Furter after their car breaks down. Cue a night of fabulous frocks, frolics and the wildest adventure of their lives.
