Falling on a Saturday this year, Burns Night on 25 January is always a fun-filled night – and the North East is really embracing it this year with many events already sold out.
So, if you want to don some tartan and enjoy a traditional Burns Night Supper, these are the best events that still have tickets left.

Burns Night Wine Dinner
Where: Hotel du Vin, City Road, Byker, NE1 2BE
When: Thursday 23 January, 7.00pm – 10.00pm

What to expect: Hotel du Vin has hosted this traditional Scottish evening for a few years now and it’s always a hit. Expect a welcome drink and canapés on arrival, before enjoying a multi-course menu honouring the legacy of Robert Burns. Each course will be accompanied by a fine wine pairing and there will be a whisky tasting between each dish, as well as a toast to the bard with a final dram to end the evening.
Burns Night Set Menu
Where: The Blackbird Inn, Ponteland, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE20 9UH

What to expect: Head to The Blackbird in Ponteland for a set menu that includes Cullen skink soup, haggis, neeps, tatties, and wee drams of whisky, plus there’ll be a live Northumbrian Piper setting the vibes. A veggie option is available with prior notice, and booking is essential.


Burns Night at Spanish City
Where: Spanish City, Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear, NE26 1BG

What to expect: The Saturday night event has now sold out, so if you’re interested in this event, be quick to nab a ticket for the Friday night celebration. Enjoy a four-course meal with an official ‘address to the haggis’, a Scottish Piper and modern Ceilidh band to get you up on the dancefloor.
Burns Night Banquet
Where: Lumley Castle, Chester-le-Street, DH3 4NX

What to expect: Celebrate Burns Night at this atmospheric venue, which is known for putting on a good event. There’s entertainment from the moment you arrive, before a four-course dinner, a fun Ceilidh and a disco to end the night.


Blackfriars Chef’s Table with a Burns Night Twist

What to expect: The official Burns Night Supper at Blackfriars sold out quickly, but this cookery school event on the Friday night is a very close second. At this intimate event, just sit back, relax and enjoy an evening of food cooked right in front of you by your own personal chef. There will be six delicious courses, each paired with the perfect tipple.
