Not that new, granted, but Rudy’s opened just after our last new openings feature was published in December, and it would be remiss not to mention this banging addition to Newcastle’s foodie scene. Neapolitan pizza is considered the best in the world, and Rudy’s focuses on a Holy Trinity of ingredients to make their pizzas truly Neapolitan. 00 Caputo flour, San Marzano tomatoes from the foot of Mount Vesuvius and the world’s creamiest mozzarella, Fior di Latte. Go hungry and enjoy.

We’ve finally got a Knoops in Newcastle, and chocolate lovers will be pleased. The concept is based around a carefully curated percentage menu which offers chocolate to suit every taste and mood. In a process called ‘Knoopology’, experiment with different chocolates and flavours – once you’ve decided on your concoction, it’ll be made into either a hot chocolate, milkshake or iced chocolate. Perfection.

A new café, bar, and bottleshop has opened in South Gosforth, serving up brunch and Majorcan-inspired small plates Wednesday – Sunday. This neighbourhood hangout is just up the road from the Brandling Villa and is ideal for laidback catch-ups. Plus, if you’re lucky enough, you might meet the bar’s namesake, Alan the Beagle.
