Stradivarius to open first North East store at Metrocentre this summer

First Sephora, now Stradivarius – we’re finally getting the stores we deserve to have in the North East.
Stradivarius is making its regional debut at Metrocentre this summer and we couldn’t be happier about it.
The much-loved brand, part of the Inditex family (which also includes Zara and Bershka), is set to open an almost 10,000 sq ft store in the lower Red Mall, bringing its signature trend-driven collections to the region for the first time.
Known for its effortlessly stylish, fashion-forward pieces, Stradivarius has built a loyal following across the globe, and its arrival at Metrocentre further cements the shopping destination’s reputation as a hub for the latest in high-street fashion. The store will sit alongside brands like Reiss, Mango, and the newly refurbished River Island, enhancing Red Mall’s already impressive fashion line-up.
Metrocentre continues to thrive, with 15.8 million visitors in 2024—an increase of 10% from the previous year. This strong growth in footfall reflects the centre’s success in attracting in-demand brands while supporting the expansion of existing retailers. The announcement follows a record-breaking 2024 for both sales and footfall, with nearly 300,000 sq ft of deals completed and a 9.2% uplift in visitors so far this year.
Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, Asset Managers of Metrocentre, said: “Stradivarius signing for this regional debut is a huge statement for Metrocentre, confirming its appeal as the premier retail destination in the North East.”
Keep an eye out for its grand opening later this year…
