Marks and Spencer has had the ultimate fashion comeback – here’s why, and what we’re buying

The comeback of M&S in recent years is actually quite a fascinating story. The food has always been top tier, but fashion? It almost became synonymous with dated, old and definitely unfashionable.
But now, it’s quietly turned around, without a big song and dance, and is now gracing our social media feeds with fashionable hauls that are still great quality and value.
The woman behind it is Maddy Evans, who joined as head of buying in 2019 from Topshop, and was made womenswear director in 2022. She’s brought in sell-out collabs with Sienna Miller and Bella Freud, but more importantly, uplevelled the whole offering, tapping into viral fashion trends.
It has diverse sizes from 6-24, in a range of lengths, and still has excellent options for women of all ages. Plus, the price points don’t break the bank.
