- Advertisement Feature
Let’s be real – LinkedIn can feel overwhelming. You know you should be posting and networking, but where do you even start?
Scrolling through your feed, you see confident professionals winning business while you’re stuck in lurking. Sound familiar? You’re not alone.
But here’s the good news, posting on LinkedIn doesn’t have to be scary. And Kathryn Wharton, founder of KLW Marketing, is here to help us.

WHAT IS LINKEDIN REALLY ALL ABOUT?
If you think LinkedIn is just a job board, think again. It’s where business happens. Whether you’re a freelancer, business owner or professional looking to grow, LinkedIn is where decision-makers connect and collaborate.
And yet, only 3% of LinkedIn post more than once a week. That means the people who are posting get the visibility, the engagement and ultimately – the opportunities.
KLW MARKETING’S TOP LINKEDIN TIPS
Kathryn breaks it down into simple, actionable steps:
Step 1: Define your purpose
Before you start posting, get clear on what you want to achieve. Attract new clients? Build your brand? Network within your industry? Having a goal gives your LinkedIn activity direction.
Step 2: Showcase who you are
Think of your LinkedIn profile as your digital introduction. It should clearly showcase who you are, what you do and why people should connect with you.
Step 3: Engage before you post
Not ready to start posting? Begin by commenting on posts in your industry, sharing insights and joining conversations. This builds visibility and credibility – without the pressure of creating content.
Step 4: Share your story
People connect with people, not corporate jargon. You don’t just have to blow your own trumpet, share your experiences, lessons and insights in an authentic way. Your audience wants to hear from you.
Step 5: Track what works
Check your LinkedIn analytics to see what resonates with your audience. The more you understand what works, the easier it becomes to refine your strategy.

Q&A WITH KATHYRN FROM KLW MARKETING ABOUT LINKEDIN
When is the best time to post on LinkedIn?
“It’s really important to experiment with different posting times and then check your engagement rates to see how your followers are behaving. As a starting point, I’d recommend posting during work hours on business days. I tend to see higher engagement on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 8am and 9am, but experiment and see when’s most effective for you.”

What are impressions on LinkedIn?
“Impressions refer to the number of times your post, ad, or profile appears on someone’s feed. It’s a measure of visibility, showing how often your content is displayed to users. Impressions are crucial because they help you gauge the initial reach and potential impact of your content. While they don’t measure engagement directly, they provide insight into how often your content is seen, which is the first step in building brand awareness and influence.”
Is LinkedIn premium worth it?
Can you share examples of LinkedIn headlines for inspiration?
“Your LinkedIn headline is your first impression. It has to be strong, clear and concise. To help you get started here is a basic formula to follow: [Current Role/Profession] | [Primary Skills/Areas of Expertise] | [Unique Value] | [Notable Achievement] | [Personal Passion or Career Goal] My personal favourite headline which does not follow that formula is Cindy Gallop’s.”
